    • Sounds like he'll be a 3-tech DT for MSU. Probably won't see the field until 2015.

    • I see basically no chance he plays as a true frosh unless he ends up being elite the moment he steps on campus.

What is your early guess on the DL two-deep?

      For '13?

If Hoover gets his 6th year, I'd guess:

      NT: Hoover/Knox

      DT: Kittredge/Reynolds

Clemons had the setback with his leg, so we'll see. Reynolds can play either interior DT position. Drone will work in as the NT in the 3-3-5

DE will be the same as this year: Gholston/Heath, Rush/Calhoun. Heath needs to be more consistent; he didn't play much this year, but was always considered a raw prospect.

    • Did Heath play at all? Granted I was at a lot of the games so I didn't really see but I don't think I ever heard his name called.

    • 99 yd return = Peko 2.0? We can only hope

Agreed. Would have to absolutely tear things up in fall camp and I don't see that happening. Probably a guy who starts to see some significant action as a redshirt sophomore.

While I'm with you on hoping he ends up having the same impact as peko I think they're pretty different players. I don't think Salmon will ever brush 340 like Domata has. He seems like a guy that will be effective in the 285-310 range like Worthy. Quick interior guy. Peko just enveloped the line.

I get the feeling that this staff is going for more of a mobile DL than a big one. Right now we have 3 guys over 300 (Hoover, White, Reynolds), but guys like Kittredge and Fennell and some of the redshirt frosh seem more like guys who will play in the 290-300 range to be more disruptive and let the LBs clean up.

    • From what I saw, I thought Devyn was really quick. A sleeper!

I still think Gholston goes pro. I really, really hope I'm wrong. I noticed you didn't mention Thomas among the six options on the interior DL. I've wondered if Thomas can keep his weight in the 280-290 range and be effective at DE. You'd think his superiority mobility for his size (as evidenced by his play as a 250lb LB in high school and as a 285lb FB this season) might make it a good fit. Apparently the staff doesn't think so, as they are working him on the interior. Regardless, unless he stays on offense full time, I can't imagine him being completely out of the rotation on defense next year no matter how it shakes out.
