Still in somewhat of a chicken wing coma, that date has been changed.
Pretty interesting stuff on Appling today when I asked about his progression on the court, both with his play and vocally. Izzo definitely still wants to see more there and it's something Appling must improve on considering Green won't be around next year. It might not be in his nature, but next year he'll be likely the best player on the team as well as the point guard. Have to learn to lead vocally in a role like that.

I do think Nix is becoming a lot more vocal as his play continues to improve. He and Appling could combine for an all-Pershing leadership group next season.
I do think Appling will continue to grow in that department, and it's important to remember he's still just a sophomore. Seems older than that with the way he plays sometimes.

After Appling's earlier quote about not having to talk and be a leader, i was wondering what was up yesterday. I've never seen him yelling and directing traffic so much. It wasn't smooth offense, but it ended up working. Now this article explains it...

Agree, it would be interesting to see a complete Doughboy takeover. That will be a big topic of discussion this offseason. I don't think Appling will become Travis Walton during that time, but do think he will make some strides there this summer.

Thanks, Dan. It's hard not to be nervous about this so fresh off the heals of last year's chemistry nightmare. It seems the success of MSU teams is completely dependent on the level of leadership.

I really don't think there's any reason to be nervous. Last year was an extreme situation with a strong divide. There is no divide this year, partly due to Green but also because everyone else has bought in.
I think some of those things Green and even Thornton have done could set the tone for next year now that the young guys know the deal and see the results.
