Nice goal. Crap, to think Izz has a shot at that in 4 years is pretty awesome. If MSU finishes the regular season 5-5 and wins 3 games between the B1G and NCAA (total 25 wins). We would need to average 23 wins over 4 seasons. Not out of reach.

For non-VIP members, here is an article written by a reporter from the Flint Journal. He had Costello for 32 and 20 with 12 of his points coming from the line.
“It was a team effort,” Northern coach Garner Pleasant said of containing Costello. “I thought he got loose on us a couple of times but he’s a strong kid, he’s got a high basketball IQ, and he sees the floor extremely well.”

No way anyone could match those numbers, if he were to average 20 rebounds a game, that would total at least 400 for the season. Only 8 players in Michigan HS history have passed 400 for a season and only 4 have passed 500.

I saw Matt play in the semi finals and was very impressed but I thought he was going to have a tough year this season. BCW lost 4 starters including another 6'9" guy and a solid point guard who was crucial to their success last year. Not known as a basketball factory, I wondered what BCW would be able to put on the floor with Matt. I pictured the tough competition in the SVL relentlessly ganging up on him - and I'm sure they are. The way he has responded is remarkable.

I balled at BCW... we ruled the SVL.
(actually, last year might have been the first winning record in the history of the school.)
NIght in/night out you could be playing college level talent. They say Flint isn't what it used to be, but I gotta think the competition is still some of the best public school competition in the midwest if not the country.

Yeah, they are hurting for experience right now and Costello has had to take ownership of the team. Done a pretty good job in both games I've seen this year and one thing I've really noticed is that he's noticeably bulked up. Added some strength in the offseason and it's helped in the paint.

I was impressed with the way he handled himself after the loss. Really put all the blame on his shoulders even though his teammates didn't have a great night. Not sure it was warranted considering he still played pretty well but it was definitely refreshing.

In your sourced material it says "junior" right above the measurements. I assume those stats reflect that year. Even if they are fudging the ht. a little (most do) we know he now weighs more than that.
