Parker picks Duke over Michigan State and several others.

CHICAGO – One of the most high-profile recruitments in Michigan State history has come to a close. It did not end happily.

Chicago (Ill.) Simeon standout Jabari Parker just announced he will play college basketball for Duke. The five-star prospect and three-time Illinois state champ made his intention public at Simeon’s John Everett Auditorium and chose Duke over Michigan State. He also considered Stanford, Florida and BYU but for the last month or so it was known the decision came down to two.

The 6-foot-8 combo forward would have been the most heralded prospect to commit to Michigan State in nearly three decades. The 247Sports Composite has Parker rated as the No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2013.

Tom Izzo spent as much time recruiting Parker as any recruit he has ever pursued but in the end, Parker chose to head for Durham, N.C., and play for fellow Chicago native Mike Krzyzewski.

Wish him the best of luck.
I think it still speaks volumes that our coaching staff is considered in this young mans decisions.
We can hang our hats that our tradition is up there with the best.
But let MSU know - I still choose them over duke every day of the week.

Disappointed for Coach. Put in the most work, was in first, but still comes up short. Can't work any harder. Lost out to a legend who runs a great program.

To be honest, I feel worse for Izzo than the program. Guy literally put years into recruiting this kid and made him our only 2013 target. That's gotta hurt.

10 top 100 players over the last five years is not bad! Only 3 behind Duke! Izzo is catching up. Let's hope he adds a solid graduate senior transfer or someone really good decommits and comes here?
