Make it two wide receiver commits on the day for Michigan State. After landing Trey Kilgore Monday afternoon, the Spartans received another 2013 verbal pledge from Exton (Pa.) Downingtown East athlete Jay Harris.
Harris called MSU coach Mark Dantonio early Monday evening with the news.
“I just committed to Michigan State,” Harris said. “Just from the first day I went up there I had a great feeling about it. I got a good feel for the coaching staff, the atmosphere. They have a great education system up there. They have a great business school and that’s what I want to go into. It just all clicked.”
MSU recruited the 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect as a wideout and return specialist. Harris holds additional offers from Temple and Old Dominion.
“I just called (Dantonio) up and he got my grades and everything,” Harris said. “He (said) if I was still ready to make this official, then we can make this official. I said I was more than ready to commit. They’re real excited about me, they have big plans for me and big expectations.”
Harris is ranked the No. 14 prospect in Pennsylvania and No. 75 wideout in the country by 247Sports having caught 53 passes for 732 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
