In my opinion this is huge. 4 man DT rotation vs. 3 man DT rotation can make a really big deal in making sure the DTs aren't gassed later in the game. Hoover also adds more of a pass rush presence than the others so far.

Right. He wasn't exactly Jevon Kearse at defensive end but he provided some good pressure at times. More than we've seen from any of the current DTs. It will be tougher up the middle, but the bar hasn't been set very high in that department this season. Interested to see what he can do when healthy.

I really want Hoover to play out of his mind against UM. Seems to happen with a lot of in-state seniors.

Good call. Played really well in that 2010 game opposite Colin Neely and also had a monster game at Northwestern that season.

If he can step up like Pickleman did a couple years ago, it would make a huge difference in the way the rest of the season goes.

That would be big. Problem is, I think a lot of Pickelman's success can be attributed to the extra attention on Worthy. Pickeleman was a good player, don't get me wrong, but teams simply don't need to place extra emphasis on the interior right now.

If he cannot get through the line, just getting his arms up may be helpful. Hoover's height, especially in the middle, can be disruptive to shorter QBs like Denard.

Our DL will need to supress their instincts to bat the ball down...the last thing we want to do is limit our chances for interceptions.

As you say...the bar is low and having Hoover back definitely can't hurt. Just his size and wingspan will cause sight issues for DR as if he doesn't have enough problems throwing the ball.

I'm hearing rumors the officials on Saturday may flag any Denard sack for a 15 yard, roughing the punter penalty...or the more benign 5 yard running into the kicker.
