Nothing too surprising here. Been saying all year I expected him to leave and wish him the best of luck. Smart move to cash in while his stock is high and multiple injuries probably helped him reach that conclusion. Those injuries could end up a blessing in disguise, as his legs will have plenty left when he gets to the League.

He missed 3 games, how was that a blessing in disguise? If anything it hurt his draft stock

It is what it is. Sad to see him go but good luck to Sims. Now be a recruiting tool for us and help us land the next Sims, Bell and Gholston.

I don't think it hurt his stock much, if at all. Sims only missed three games but he didn't take nearly as many snaps/hits over the past two seasons due to the wrist and ankle injuries. That means he's relatively fresh for a college junior and was able to point to specific games (EMU, Northwestern) as examples of what he can do when fully healthy.

I really don't get why so much is made about kids saving their legs or being fresh. I get that it's a brutal game but these guys are 20 year old, highly conditioned, world class athletes. Is there any evidence that 4 year college players have shorter NFL careers than players that come out early?

It will be interesting to see where he actually gets drafted with the injury history and "discipline" issue in the past.

As bad as Norv Turner was, he still recognized the tight end position. Too bad we couldn't feature him in our passing game.
I can see Sims blowing up like Gates did in the NFL.

I can see Sims blowing up like Gates did in the NFL.

The NFL seems to be moving to the Gronkowski/Hernandez model of TE.... Sims is almost a throwback at this point. Still he has great hands, and that basketball player ability to use his body to box out would be pass interceptors. Teams will like his size and potential. Hopefully he can realize it at the next level.

Yeah nfl scouts love guys that can't make it through an entire college season.
He's relatively fresh for a guy that's barely ever been healthy.
Seriously this is a dumb dumb move he is Maybe a 4th round pick. With next years schedule he could have easilly been a 1st rounder in next years draft.
