    • Cool. Great athlete. Is Jayru only interested in quarterback?

(Alabi and Weber news is nice as well)

    • Gotta like that he may want to go into journalism. Would be a huge get.

    • Get Drake recruiting him and hopefully hire Tom Sims as DL coach and this program will be firmly into Cass Tech

I'm no recruiting expert, but I don't think kids still looking around are good recruiting tools.

    • I just spoke to someone recently who knows PSL football well. We were talking and Campbell came up...this person said in all likelihood he is going out of state...unlikely UM. Person said a lot of Detroit kids are started to get turned off by the strict offense Hoke is assembling...kids want more open offenses and like MD since he's a player's coach...just my two cents.

Deon Drake... and you're right, you're no recruiting expert.

Thanks... Interesting stuff. Pure speculation and more discussion-based, but despite the strong Michigan influence they are around, at what point do these Cass Tech kids see all the Cass Tech kids in the classes ahead of them going to Michigan and not playing much, not succeeding much and not getting to the next level? Off of that, at what point do they attribute that to the coaching at Michigan? I'd think at some point some of these kids finally see that their peers from Cass Tech are not having luck at one school and they then want to open up their horizons a little bit on the recruiting front. May be a bit of growing distrust in terms of what they've seen from development.

Interesting how none of the Cass Tech kids from Michigan went to the NFL while the one kid who strays away and ends up at LSU (Barksdale) gets drafted.

    • I went to one of his games this season, didn't have as good of a game as I thought he would've had. It was mostly him throwing short passes or handing it off to the stud running backs. Personally, I'd like him as a wide receiver, he has great speed and is quite tall. I would like to see us land one of Cass Tech's running backs though.

      what makes UMAA's offense strict?

If anything, I'd say UM's offense is too uncertain, not too strict. They ran a Dickrod/prostyle combo the past couple years. They'll probably run a Russel Wilson-esque offense with Gardner. Then probably try go even more prostyle. That's kind a lot of change based on their QB personnel.

uncertain is a great description. that makes perfect sense. players get to see that um either runs the qb, runs the rb, or just throws the ball up in the air all willy nilly. i can see why players don't like that type of uncertainty.

Fair enough. If someone comes to me wanting to know about atlhetic 14-17 year old boys, I will direct them to you.

To be fair, Gardner is a legitimate passing threat. And their incoming recruit is supposedly no slouch. It'll be interesting to see how many elements of the spread zone-read they retain.

Unless they have interest from Ohio State, then direct them to Bill Kurelic.

Yeah, he wants MSU to offer earlier so they don't have to camp. That's just not really the way the staff has done it in the past and I don't blame them for it. Part of the reason the staff is so good at evaluating talent is because they get a lot of targets in camp and can see them up close and in person and not have to rely so heavily on film. Richardson threw a huge fit on Twitter that he had to camp for an offer. Not sure when that request became such a sign of disrespect in the recruiting circle, especially for an in-state kid.

The person I spoke with used the word "strict" so that's why I posted it...I'm not entirely sure and should have pushed more. I got the sense though it was that they are going more pro-style in terms of recruiting and a lot of these great Detroit athletes want to be in a system that allows them to show their talents more.

Hasn't it always been said they wait to see who we offer first? His belief we need to offer first kinda confirms to me that he can let his um boys know we offered so they better come after said recruit.

IIRC, the kid is a sophomore, right? It's a wee bit early to be throwing in the towel on his position of choice, especially since MD is interested.

He will want to give qb a try... Where is Archie Collins? He is CT grad. Can Jayru and the Mean Green Machine 3-peat???
