Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio has been more aggressive on the recruiting trail recently when it comes to underclassmen. The Spartans already have offers out to over a dozen sophomores.
Dantonio is more open to offering sophomores these days.
It's time to add another to the list: Colerain (Ohio) Class of 2015 sophomore George Brown attended Michigan State’s spring game on Saturday and walked away with an offer.
"It's a great offer and I know some people already at Michigan State," Brown said. Fellow Cincy native “Shane Jones works out with me and he is going there."
The 6-foot-6, 253-pound Brown describes himself as "an athletic big man because I can play tight end, offensive tackle, defensive end and I have good feet for a big man from what I've been told."
Brown has offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Boston College, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, UCLA, Vanderbilt and West Virginia. The list compares favorably to that of any sophomore in Ohio.
"My visit was great," Brown said. "I must say hanging out with the coaches and getting to know them was the highlight. I already knew Coach [Harlon] Barnett pretty well because he's been to my school twice already. He is coming on Monday. Not only that, he played high school football with my dad at Princeton [High outside Cincy]."
Dantonio also has a relationship with the Brown family from several years back.
"Coach Dantonio recruited my older brother Aaron Brown that went to Virginia Tech," Brown said. "My dad has known him for a while, too, so I would say that I have a good relationship with the coaches."
What does Brown think of the Green and White?
"Michigan State is a great program," Brown said. "It should continue to get better."
