    • Just wait till Urb gives him an offer, he'll be going straight to Columbus. Why play at MSU when you can play for tOSU?

    • Well I don't think everyone can't be fadangled by Meyer. I believe MSU is very close to being a great as well as an elite program. The Spartans have always done a good job of recruiting in Pa.

    • The teams to beat are Pitt and Penn State. Yes Penn State. The only effect that the sanctions will be having is limiting the numbers. And this year they figured out a way around the numbers by having a third of their class enroll early. The 2014 recruits are being sold that by their junior year the sanctions will be over.

      From the Penn State board

"Other than not playing in a bowl game until my junior year if I went there, I think everything is pretty good with Penn State. I watched them a little bit growing up. The sanctions and all that, I'm not too worried about it."

Pitt got a major upgrade in recruiting when they picked up Chryst. No one (recruits, parents, players, and alumni) liked Todd Graham.

The Tyler Boyd recruiting is exhibit A for the pressure that SW PA recruits get to "stay local"

Top 10 local recruits in the Class of 2014

      1. Dravon Henry, Aliquippa (pictured)

      6-0, 185, defensive back

The Quips are known for producing DBs, a list that includes Ty Law and Darrelle Revis. A two-way star who rushed for 1,800 yards, Henry has reached double figures in scholarship offers. Among them are all three locals (Pitt, WVU and Penn State) and much of the Big Ten, including Ohio State and Michigan. A four-star Rivals.com recruit.

      2. Shai McKenzie, Washington

      6-0, 212, running back

His 2,600 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns caught the attention of college recruiters, earning McKenzie more than a dozen offers. Along with the three locals, noteworthy names on his college list include Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. A four-star Rivals.com recruit.

      3. Montae Nicholson, Gateway

      6-2, 200, defensive back

With a coveted combination of size and speed, Nicholson rates among the nation's top prospects at safety. He's listed No. 59 overall by 247sports.com. Nicholson, a four-star recruit, has more than a dozen offers. Among them are the three local programs, plus notable names Florida State and Ohio State.

      4. Mike Grimm, Bethel Park

      6-7, 315, offensive tackle

The biggest WPIAL recruit when it comes to physical size, Grimm is among the most coveted linemen from the 2014 class. His stock rose last month with a strong performance at the U.S. Army Junior Combine in San Antonio. Pitt, WVU and Virginia are among his early offers. Others have growing interest, including Alabama.

      5. Anthony Davis, Gateway

      6-1, 175, defensive back

He's part of a talented Gateway secondary that includes three D-I recruits, with Nicholson and Delvon Randall being the others. Davis, a corner with solid ball skills, had six interceptions last season. WVU, Illinois, Maryland and Texas Tech are among his offers.

      6. Alex Bookser, Mt. Lebanon

      6-6, 295, offensive tackle

His college future could be on defense, but Bookser has the size to become a powerful pile-moving offensive tackle. Pitt and Virginia offered early, and others have followed, including WVU and Florida State.

      7. Chandler Kincade, Blackhawk

      6-4, 215, quarterback

A strong-armed passer, Kincade threw for 2,220 yards and 16 TDs. He verbally committed to Pitt as a sophomore and stuck with the Panthers through the coaching change.

      8. Chase Winovich, Thomas Jefferson

      6-4, 205, linebacker

A solid tackler with good speed, Winovich has offers from Pitt, West Virginia and Florida State, among others. He's projected as an outside linebacker in college.

      9. Elijah Zeise, North Allegheny

      6-2, 185, defensive back

Zeise could play wide receiver, but defense seems to be his future. He has offers from Pitt, Arizona and Temple. The Ivy League's also interested.

      10. Troy Apke, Mt. Lebanon

      6-2, 175, wide receiver

Apke, whose father played linebacker for Pitt, received a scholarship offer from the Panthers before a 1,000-yard season that could draw other offers.
