thought they said groin/hip. If i remember right he had a late lay up against Purdue and came up looking alittle gimpy but continued to play. I almost wonder if he pulled something there.

When App isn't in the game, have BK bring it up the court and have Draymond/Wood make an entry pass to NIx/Payne/Green. BK hasn't shown he is confident passing the ball to post guys yet. Hope he proves me wrong, would make him a legit combo rather than just Predator Jr.

Kearney has definitely been much better than I thought he would be at this point. He's a strong defender and his offensive skills are progressing a lot faster than I expected. Looks confident with his jumper right now and has decent handles. This game will be a huge test for Kearney, however. Knows the team needs some quality minutes out of him.
Seems like MSU has been in this scenario at PG against the Illini more than once. I remember an Allen/Kebler combo in Champaigne two years ago when Lucas was recovering from an ankle injury suffered at Wisconsin.

Pulled groin. Obviously a tough injury but much easier to recover from than a sports hernia, which Trice told me had been raised as a possibility last week.

With BK getting minutes at the point, there will probably be a trickle down effect for minutes out on the wing as well. Would be nice to see if Byrd can give the same kind of minutes he gave in the Minnesota game, where he neutralized Williams on defense(the Gophers only offense up to that point) and showed his shooting touch as well.

Izzo did mention today that Byrd will probably see some more playing time should Trice sit out, which I think is the most likely scenario at this point. I think the biggest thing Byrd needs at this point is some confidence, and that 3-pointer he hit against Minnesota should help in that department. Anything he can give down the stretch run would be a big bonus for the Spartans.

I was impressed with Byrd during that stretch. I think it would be great to get him some minutes, purely to disrupt teams with our length. A combo of Appling, Kearney, and Byrd at the 1-2-3 on the defensive end would frustrate the hell out of shorter teams.

I really like what we've seen from TT so far this season. Hope this isn't one of those lingering issues that affects him for a few weeks. Better to let him sit now...than sit for a longer period of time later on.
