    • If he believes he is a 3rd-4th round selection.. He gone..

      Jfaspen

    • Yeah, if Sims is a projected top 3 draft eligible TE coming back seems to only have downside.

      The_Dude

    • Pretty frustrating to see how many Spartans are on 2013 and 2014 draft boards, and then to see how bad this team is this year in a horrible Big Ten.

      The_Dude

    • Sure would be nice to see a full healthy season out of him.

That's been the one big problem with Sims over the past two years aside from inconsistency as a blocker. Problem for MSU is that those injuries might make Sims even more likely to seize the opportunity next spring.

    • I hope he (and his teammates) are more concerned about Northwestern and finishing strong than the pro's right now.

8-5 is much better than 5-7, 6-7, 7-6...better bowl. More momentum for the program for recruiting.....

except is inability to stay healthy at this level is another thing dragging down his draft stock. If he comes back and proves he can make it through a whole year it will help him

you do realize 3rd or 4th rounders get very little guaranteed money and sometimes don't even make a roster.

If dion comes back loses some weight, improves his blocking he could be a 1st or 2nd

I think these guys realize how important a bowl game is this season. Sims prefaced his statements by saying his focus is entirely on the task at hand, so it's not like he volunteered the information without prompt. I asked about it considering it's a huge question right now.

    • I realize it's senior day and topic of last games is a natural story line, but it's annoying people are talking leaving early with two games left in the regular schedule. I'd be more interested in reading more about the seniors this week.

I suspect that may impact his draft status more then anything. If you can't stay healthy for a 12 game college season, it's only longer and they only hit harder at the next leve.

I'll have much more on the seniors tomorrow and Friday in What To Watch For

I like to follow Drafttek's big board, they have Bell 52nd, Gholston 55th, Sims 78th and Anthony Rashad White 79th! Big boards don't really reflect drafts though so Bleacher Report has him as the number 8 TE in the upcoming draft. They have Leveon Bell going 44th in the 2nd round to the Jets, then they have Gholston as a 3rd rounder going 86th overall to the Seattle Seahawks. Walterfootball has Sims going 72nd to the Rams in the 3rd and Gholston going to the Lions 78th.

No kidding. If you are going to get kicked in the nuts by having guys leaving early, you'd think it was because you had a great season.

      Only at MSU.....

    • If he does go, good luck to him.

      Ron_in_ATL

    • This is stupid, he is not ready to go.

nfldraftscout.com has sims as the #4 TE, Leveon as the #12! running back and Gholston as the number 12! defensive end.

basically they have them all as borderline 3rd rounders.

every single one of them can help themselves by coming back.

Bell's stock can't go any higher

      unless he somehow becomes faster

None of those places matter. The NFL will do the grading, and that is what the vast majority of players will base their decision on. In other words, we will have to wait.

agree, they will get much better info from the advisory committee then we get from mock drafts, espn, cbs sports etc

Keshawn Martin was drafted in that round and saw action right away. His fumbles are what kept him off the field. He had the second most targets in pre-season and looked to be a starter until that fatefull monday night performance with two fumbles. Cousins is a career starter if Griffin goes down. 8-10 years as a backup QB in the NFL is a pretty righteous gig. Both drafted in trounds 3-5.
