    • If the NCAA is actually giving a waiver to the 85 man limit- it makes complete sense to "load up" as much of the good players from PSU that you can bring on board.

edit: is there an adjustment to the 105 man limit as well? Would assume that would be the case if you are taking PSU players and adding them to the roster.

The only thing you would really have to be cautious of is "team chemistry".

Have to be careful- if MSU adds one now, they have to be at 84 total schollies in 2013...

Teams aren't going to simply add a ton without still coming in under 85 schollie limit at some pt..

Best option would be going after SR's who won't be around in 2013

Dantonio has been conscious of team chemistry since day one, even more so after cleaning house in 2009-10 following Rather Hall. MSU will evaluate these players as they would a typical recruit and follow the same steps, so I don't think that's a concern at all.

Jordan Hill would be the #1 guy I'd like to see MSU go after. A 6'1 300 pound SR DT would really help ease the loss of Worthy. Maybe 6'3 Justin Brown at WR as well; he had 35 catches last year.

After that, really not much MSU would want. Silas Redd as a home-run threat RB?

I was thinking of the seniors that would be gone for 2013. Got a little excited about the chance to add more talent and see where it takes us this year.

Like others have speculated though, we may be losing more early entrants than expected after this year- so possible to snag a couple of younger PSU guys too.

Agreed, team chemistry is so good now I dont think a guy or two can ruin it. With my excitement at the possibility of adding more talent, I didn't want there to be a "PSU Posse" within the program to disrupt chemistry.

Iowa kind of went through that with the "Detroit" and "Cleveland" posses on their roster.

    • You forgot that the Detroit newspapers will have a retrospective on negative events that shaped the negative perception of universities with the first chapter cataloging the MSU riots. The second chapter will focus on MSU's postseason and TV ban in the 1970s. The third will focus on Tom Izzo's interest in the Cleveland Cavaliers job to be followed by a 10 page spread about the Big House BBQ.

    • Why did we wait to offer Bradshaw in the first place? From what I have read we were his childhood favorite and his whole family loves us. Now we throw out an offer?

I doubt, unless there's a player that is really, really serious about being a Spartan, MSU would take a SR.

If you take Jordan Hill, what do you tell Hoover or the other DTs? I get the competition thing, but you ruffle a lot of feathers with current players IMO. I don't see any glaring holes on the team (other than MAYBE wr) that we need to plug with Nittany Lions. Silas Redd is their best player, but I can't think a better way of pissing off Le'veon, Larry and Nick, who have all had success and put in the time as Spartans.

This is probably here nor there though, I don't see it happening period from both MSU and the players perspective.

    • What will be interesting is to see which current PSU players transfer elsewhere who could have an immediate affect on conference races this season.

Yea, on that note, don't expect tOSU to grab too many.

I think UM could greatly benefit from this; if they grab a couple OL and DL, their depth in the trenches goes from questionable to more than adequate.

MSU had a chance to evaluate Bradshaw at camp last summer and didn't offer for whatever reason. Keep in mind scholarship numbers were and still are limited in this class, but there are higher-tier prospects MSU has missed out on since then. Expected to play outside linebacker for PSU and is also a standout HS receiver at 6-foot-3.

    • PSU sanctions mean that I got to witness an MSU victory in Happy Valley in 2000. Bobby Williams career recod vs JoePa: 3-0, JLS: 4-0.

Yeah, that's the crappy thing to me, this could fast-forward um into a top program again. They have depth issues & talent issues on the OL & DL. The get 1-2 PSU starters on each side, and suddenly, problem solved.

Wait, does this mean Larry Johnson did not rush for 782 yards in the first quarter against us in 02? rockon

I dont think psu guys are going to want to go to uofm to help provide them with depth.

the seniors are going to want to go somewhere where they can start for a year ala russel wilson.

uofms starting line is pretty much set except for one guard spot, maybe they go after a guy like miles diffenbach. but keep in mind the schollie isn't free uofm would have to make it up the following season.

once again dont think a starter at psu is interested in transferring to uofm to be a back up for a year.

uofm is pretty close to 85 if they exceed 85 ships by some number this fall then they will have to be under 85 by the same number the following fall.

It isn't so cut and dry.

A lot of these kids are east coast kids, I expect a lot of them will go home to the east coast state schools they're from ala Rutgers, Maryland va tech maybe some go over to pitt etc

I want their D-line coach Larry Johnson Sr. It'd be a perfect transition from Gill; could also offer a carrot in the form of a potential DC position if Narduzzi bolts in a few years.

Takes up zero schollies; set us up for years of elite D-line recruiting, particularly in talent-rich PA & Mid-Atlantic region.

Larry Johnson Sr. is a heck of a recruiter, but I'd rather not have anyone from that staff, regardless.

    • How much has this got to suck for Rob Bolden and his father? He had a great opportunity at MSU but chose Penn State to ride the pine and then this. We lucked out with Maxwell anyway whom will be great I say.
