Spartans Announce Football Series With Boise State - MICHIGAN STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

Michigan State Athletics Director Mark Hollis announced Friday, Oct. 29 that the Spartans have signed contracts for a three-game series with Boise State. The Spartans will kick off the series with Boise State on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, in East Lansing, Mich. The 2012 season and home opener will be televised nationally by ESPN.

Pretty thrilled about it being a Friday night game. The atmosphere was pretty nuts for YSU last year, so I'd imagine Boise is even more ridiculous.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

For being Youngstown, it was pretty cool. Can't even imagine what it's going to be like after two 11 win seasons, friday night, Boise State, and kicking off the season on ESPN. Oh, and those giant video boards.

Just a fantastic atmosphere, even if the team didn't quite play up to that level.
Playing a tough(er) opponent early should help MSU vs. ND, which is often MSU's first decent opponent of the year. After that, who knows. What a home schedule though: Boise, ND, EMU, Ohio State, Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern. EMU is the only "bad" team on that list; everyone else should be bowl eligible (record-wise at least, since tOSU is automatically ineligible for a bowl.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
