2012 NBA Draft thread

  • Two things of interest for most here:

#1, where will Day-Day end up? I am hearing he could end up in Miami, OKC, Chicago or in Dallas or San Antiono VIA trade. I wouldn't be surprised if I see Detroit trade up for him as well (sending a contract that would be amnestied)

#2, who will fall to the Pistons at #9. Pistons got luck the past 2 drafts with Monroe and Knight falling to them because of boneheaded pics before them. Can the pistons make it 3 years in a row?

  • Would love to see a Draymond end up with one of the contenders. I'd actually make an effort to watch some regular season games if he worked his way into regular paying time.

  • Haven't read any of the projections in awhile... does Day-Day have a decent shot at getting in the 1st round? MSU hasn't had a 1st round pick since Brown/Ager in 2006 so it'd be nice to break that streak.

  • Has a shot, but alot of variables (dumb picks or trades) would affect his position.

  • Day-Day will go to Miami. As for the Pistons, I think they will end up with Henson, but I would love to see Andre Drummond drop.

Most people have him going late first or early second, so yeah, there is a decent shot. I would love it if the Bulls grabbed him with the 29th pick.

  • Hummel measured out way taller than I thought... He could actually be a nice backup 3 man. Like if Mike Miller wasn't a fucking pussy.

  • While Draymond would add mental toughness to a team that needs it, the Piston's need size more than anything. Leonard seems the consensus pick but he's a project although the Pistons won't be contenders for at least 2 more years so that may be OK.

Miller is a punk but he's also not made of glass like Robbie is.

  • Pistons will get Henson and Day Day will be in the 27-29 group with the two finalists.

Draymond would be the Piston's #2 pick, either by draft position or trade. Day-Day will not go #9 overall.

As for the Pistons, we all know that Stucky, Prince and Gordon are available, and I expect atleast one of them to be gone by the time camp starts. It will all depends on who offers what. Charlie V will be amestied, so they will also have some cap room.

I see and on some level I knew that but flaked. I could see the Pistons taking him later if available but outside of size they need a gunner and that's not Green who is a character guy with all around skills, none of which are exceptional. Didn't the Pistons sign Stuckey to a new multi-year contract before last season? He's not going anywhere unless it's the right trade. I think he, Knight and Monroe are the foundation for the future.

  • I don't know why but I'm not that enthused with the thought of the Pistons taking Henson. I know he looks the part but there seemed to be something missing when I watched him play last year. I'd rather take Zeller (just for his energy level) or take a chance on Leonard (the Illini debacle wasn't all of his fault).

It sucks that we're having to split hairs in a Airplane food v Hospital food type conversation because this team can't tank properly.

Well there aren't many safe picks in this draft to begin with outside of Davis, MKG, and Robinson. The Pistons needed to get in the top 3 to end up with Robinson. This draft in particular seems to have a few kinds of players. The first is headcases/guys with motor issues who have a lot of potential (Barnes, Drummond, Jones, etc). There are the shooters who are all pretty good (Lillard, Rivers, Waiters, Beals). Then there are the safer big men who may not have the upside of others (Zeller).

Lots of talk of the Pacers being interested in him down here in Indy.

A year ago he would've been a top 3 pick. Now he might not be drafted before Draymond (not to mention Draymond getting Big 10 POY). Who could've seen that one coming?

Where did you hear that? On the NBA combine show he was listed in the top 10. has something happened in a week and a half to change that?

  • Handful of bigs I see them considering at nine. Doubt any of the players at another position slide far enough for them to get a major steal, Barnes, KG or Beal or Drummind. Not interested in the group that will go right in front of them with the small school PG or Lamd or the kid from Washington. All that being said, Id like to see them trade for Houston's two first rounders and get two of the imperfect bigs instead of one.

2012 NBA draft -- Former Ohio State Buckeyes star Jared Sullinger not invited to draft - ESPN

Ohio State sophomore and two-time all-American Jared Sullinger will watch the NBA draft in Columbus at a restaurant instead of in the green room in Newark's Prudential Center after the NBA declined to invite him to Thursday's draft.

Yes. Have you been living under a rock? He was red-flagged as a major injury concern due to his back issues and many teams were told by their doctors to not draft him.
