Rock, do you think there's potential for T Lip to play both ways this year? If the injury situation at WR doesn't get shaken out (or if Arnett doesn't get cleared)?

Right now the CB back-ups are Hicks, White, Colquhoun and Waynes. Lots of unproven guys. I think Lippett prefers O, but could make an impact either way, and I'd feel more comfortable with him filling in for either CBs than any of the current back-ups.

After Waynes makes a game-saving INT against UM in AA I'll probably change my mind though lol

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

we are going to be up by 14 so game saving is not exactly true

We've got depth. We've got numbers.

Some interesting things on twitter about Bell as #1 RB....

    Joe Rexrode ‏ @joerexrode
That was interesting. RT @Sloc12 asked about Bell clear #1 RB dantonio:"important that we aren't complacent. I'll leave it at that" ... hmmm

    Joe Rexrode ‏ @joerexrode
Dantonio on who will get the carries at RB: "Your guess is as good as mine. ... I really don't care who plays."

    On Calhoun

    Joe Rexrode ‏ @joerexrode
Dantonio on Calhoun: Said he could have helped midway through last year. "He's got Julian Peterson type ability." There's a quote for you.

I really hope the stuff about Bell not being the sure number 1 is just coach speak to keep him motivated. I don't want it to be like last year when it was clear Bell was better but Baker was still getting quite a few carries for a while

  • any news on Burbridge's eligibilty?

I'm interested to see which of the true freshmen WR's (Burbridge, Madaris, Kings, Kerrick) get serious PT in their first year

Coach D knows he's going to need at least two studs at TB to make it through the season. I'm sure he's just trying to keep both guys motivated (as well as the rest of the RB's waiting in line).

probably kerrick since he's already enrolled and can participate in spring ball

T Lip listed at WR. Surely due to the lack of experience? I thought the coaches liked him at CB?

    More depth at CB perhaps.

Still a ton of talent at RB. Gotta go with the hot hand. Maybe Hill or Caper has a better spring or something...

When you have a lot of talent at one position like that, it's not a bad thing to keep your options open at this point. Had they not done that with Baker last year, Bell may never emerged in the first place.

  • Just total speculation but i wonder if LT keeps growing and getting bigger if we might try him at DT, think he could be an athletic freak there as a 3 tech. In the longrun I'd like to see LT on the d-line, but I know the staff will put him wherever is best for him and the program

    Lockwood09

  • LT needs to stay healthy so they can actally see him. Multiple shoulder injuries can end careers. 3rd and long passing situations, why not put him at DT?

  • Gholston, Hoover, Heath, Rush, Calhoun = NASTY line. Everyone's gotta eat...and they will.

Because he's not a defensive tackle.
