I can't believe they made that $80. I can't wait to get the chance to buy that game for like $10 on the secondary market. lol

I guess they just didn't want value of season tickets to be so close to single game. They probably wanted to be able to say it was over $100 off lol

  • $80 for Indiana??????????????? Cmon Hollis, you're better than that. I know you want to keep revenues up, but that's awful. I understand making premium games like ND and scUM $80, but you can't manufacture a premium game. Those tickets will be going to $5 outside the stadium on gameday.

That is even worse than the $80 Iowa game last season. lol

  • Awful home schedule, especially compared to last year. Real curious to see the % drop in renewals.

    A. It's Homecoming. That does make it a (somewhat) premium game.

    B. If MSU sells tickets for $44 (season ticket price) or $80 (single game price), why would Hollis care what the resale value is?

He shouldn't care about the resale value but he should care about the market value of tickets. Season ticket sales will likely be down, which means the ticket office will have more $80 Indiana tickets to sell. They could likely end up eating a lot of tickets for that game...

  • Unfortunately, I have a feeling this football season (ticket/revenue-wise) is going to be a disaster for the athletic department. We are people who typically buy season tickets knowing we won't get the value we are paying due to our long drive to campus, but this year, we are really considering passing - $700 for the UM game is quite steep.

It's obvious they made the homecoming game $80 b/c that (along with UM) is the game they know they will sell single game tickets for....maybe not a lot, but more than the other games, so why not grab the extra $ where you can?

I would have offered a ticket to a road game with each season package - no idea of how they would arrange this, but get creative.

Exactly. But it's not because the face value of the tickets for season ticket prices don't count the scholarship seating. Add that in and it's about the same as the single game ticket price or, in all likelihood, more expensive.

Wayyyy more expensive than secondary market. If you pay $50 for games like Youngstown state, you're doing it wrong.

I'm one of the ones passing on season tickets this year. Still plan to go to as many games as possible (maybe even all of them), but I can't justify the $716 cost for 2 tickets in West Upper Deck for a schedule like that when I can probably buy them on the street or from friends that have extras (seems like my tailgate crew always had at least 2 spares last year) for less than $20/game excluding the UofM game. And with the money I save, I can go baller status on seats for the UofM game.

Plus, depending on how well the team does, those "hard to get" UofM tickets may not be so hard to get come November 2. Just remember the Nebraska game last year.

If someone is going to the Homecoming game (specifically because they are going back for Homecoming), it won't matter if the price is $80.

If someone doesn't care that it's the Homecoming game and won't pay $80, they can go to a different game for $50. Or they can buy tickets on the secondary market (from someone who already paid $80 or $44).

There is more demand for Homecoming tickets. The price reflects that. Seems to be a wise business decision by Hollis.

  • Good. More revenue=better facilities and more money for coaches=better recruits=better football program.

Damn, Roushar is still here so that's all irrelevant.

  • Once they refund me for this year ill buy my tickets. Also, ridiculous seeing all the boners bail out because of the schedule and because they think we will suck. Show up to the fucking games and support the team. But it you don't show up it's more opportunity for me to get closer to the field. Fucking boners.

You'll probably get hammered on here for saying the schedule is the reason, but I agree with you 100%. We are not driving 500 miles to see them either 1) beat the hell out of these crap teams, or 2) poop their pants and lose to these crap teams. We are coming up for one game this year, the UM game. Call me a poor fan or whatever, but none of the other games are worth the time/expense. My feeling is that I'll be able to pick up a pair for $200-300 for that game. That means my donation to the University would be $400-500 if we go with the season ticket package - just don't know if I can convince the other half that that is the right thing to do.

If we were closer, I'd be in the same boat. That said, I think a lot of people, near and far, think differently.

  • Look at Ohio State's home schedule for 2013; not much better, and I bet they are not hearing a bunch of babies crying about not renewing.
Buffalo, San Diego St, Florida A&M, Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn St, and Indiana.

    notsofungi

  • I buy tickets to watch the home team.

It is a bonus if the schedule is as great as last year's (even though they lost every B1G home game) not the expectation.
