So, it was "worth" your time and expense last year when we had a good home schedule? Even though having a better home schedule might mean more losses at home? What were we...2-5 last year at home? So, you base your buying decisions on a better home schedule (with the possibility that we will lose more games), as opposed to a schedule in which we might win more games at home? Is your mentality that you don't want to waste your money because we might lose to crap teams? But, it's not wasted when we lose to good teams?

Sorry. I don't follow this logic. Seems like going 6-1 or 7-0 at home would be more enjoyable (and worth it) than going 2-5 (regardless of the opponent).

The bottom line is you are a fan of your team. Valuing your time and expense (for purchasing season tickets) based on the opponent is silly. We need our fans to step up and support the program...not make excuses.

How long have you been an MSU fan? The UM ticket is a tough one no matter how bad the team is or how bad the weather. The demand will be even higher this year as its the only decent game on the home schedule.

Is a game on November 1st that different than a game being in October?

I'm in DC though. An AVERAGE football weekend for me last season was about $1000.00, once I factored in Hotel, Flights, Tickets, and all the other money that gets spent. That's not even counting the zilly donate, beer and food money. I see it as a worthwhile investment not only in my personal entertainment, but in the Football Program and the University.

Maybe I just don't bitch like some of the other guys on here about a weak schedule, when I was gifted with an amazing schedule last season. Guess what, when the schedule ramps up again in 2014-2017, and people are scrambling for tickets, I won't have to worry.

And yet the same people who hit the internet to boldly give every excuse possible why they will not set foot on campus to support the team by publicly denouncing Hollis, the program, ticket prices, and conditions of everthing associated with Spartan Stadium, are the some ones demanding the athletic department give them a first rate program with first class facilities.

Absolutely brilliant.

I have been a season ticket holder and have been to every home game since 1985. I need to have a serious talk with the wife about not renewing, I really do not know if it is worth the money any longer. We have six tickets in section 23, so the cost is quite high.

I have always said that I buy season tickets primarily to support the program, not because they make financial sense. That said, I think over the last 25+ years I have done my part.

You know what, I'm going to do something you don't see around here to often....I'm going to say you are absolutely right. You made me see the light - my arguments don't make any sense. I want to see a top program year in and year out, and the only way to do that is to help the AD financially and I realize I should buy the season tickets regardless of schedule. I apologize for my momentary lack of being a good fan!

That said, still may be hard to do this year b/c I have to pay for the stupid yard for the house we're building - or should I just leave it dirt, and tell the neighbors I wanted to create an Arizona-type atmosphere?

Won't to 2014 BIG schedule change with the new additions?

People keep saying this, but when has a season ticket ever been difficult to get for Michigan State? Last year they suspended sales for what, the first time ever? And even with that you got tickets as long as you didn't wait until July to buy them.

And if one is really concerned about an inability to get season tickets in the future, you need only donate about $100 to the Spartan Fund every year to maintain your point level.

Definately. But if you aren't willing to get season tickets with the way the program is currently, you weren't part of the reason the fan base exceeded the onfield product over the last 25 years.

When we clinched the B1G crown at PSU in 2010 it was half full and that was before all the Paterno-Sandusky information made people hesitant to go to games. Next year will be our first home Thanksgiving weekend game so it'll be interesting to see how our fan base reacts.
