2013 NFL Combine Thread

  • I think Milliner is the best CB prospect on the board but I don't know if he's a top 5 pick....Honestly i'm just not a huge fan of a lot of talent in this draft. Severely lacking in top-end talent.

Teams that covet Miliner would want to trade up given the fact that the Lions are now being touted as his landing spot. It's all about perception of the pick. Lions should be smoke screening right now to see how much they could get for the #5 (Miliner). If they don't get an offer they like, take him.

I think we become too enamored with "physical skills" which is why players who soar up draft boards bust sometimes when they didn't even belong at that slot in the first place. The combine has the ability to skew/open our eyes all at the same time.

Warmack has an extremely high ceiling and the highest floor of any prospect in the draft IMO. Guard is a need for this team and to shore up that hole with a day 1 starter instead of a 'wait two years' or expensive FA would be a nice consolation prize for moving down. We have no idea if there will even be an elite pass rusher or corner. At worst, Warmack would be very good.

What are you basing his ceiling on? His great combine numbers? Nope. His physical size? Nope. His superior athleticsm? Nope.
He is a great guard prospect. That is all. If he was a better athlete he would have been playing tackle. He played on an elite team surrounded by other NFL talent. Of course that will help him look good. Guards can be developed, why? Because they are technicians.

He is a waste of a high pick. Not because he isnt good but because of the position he plays and the cake you would have to pay him as a rookie. You might as well sign a free agent NFL guard who has real NFL tape already. It will cost about the same.

Milliner was the number one corner coming out of the gate and his combine just affirmed that. It didnt make him.

  • NFL.com's Gil Brandt reports Texas A&M RB Christine Michael missed two team interviews at the Combine after oversleeping.

Truly inexplicable. Michael put on a show in Indy, posting a 43-inch vertical leap, 4.54 40-yard dash, 10-foot-5 broad jump and 27 reps on the bench press. But he spent his senior year with the Aggies deep in coach Kevin Sumlin's doghouse, and is sorely lacking in maturity. He has talent worth gambling on, but teams are unlikely to do so before day three.

FYI Warmack has a really good chance of going top 10. Almost a lock at this point.

The only way he goes top 10 is if the DE's really fall, they were pretty weak as a group so it could happen.

    Werner
    Moore
    Jordan
    Jones

Would have to slide and no QBs either. Then maybe he goes tenth.

Moore is tanking. Jordan on the way up. Jones probably going to slide a bit. Werner is probably still top 10. Ansah moving up.

Agree with all of that. My final comments regarding Milliner versus Warmack is pretty simple. If you want a starting CB you better grab him in the first or top second .... They have special easily identifiable physical skills and are picked over after that. Starting quality guards can be found anywhere in the draft or developed. You cant develop what it takes to play corner.

If you could be assured of getting Trufant or Rhodes at the top of two then you can afford to pass on Milliner at 5.

He is a huge need to boot. If he is there at 5 its the easiest pick ever.

The only guy that gives me pause is Ansah.

  • Did JA get hurt? I'm not seeing any results for him in anything but the 40 and bench. Or, did he elect not to participate in the other events?
