2013 NFL Combine Thread

The guys I wouldn't mind seeing with the 5th pick for the Lions. However I agree, I would love for the Cardinals to decide to move up to 5 and give up a 3rd and 4th rounder to get there. (and then draft Will with it)

    Worthy of top 5 pick

Luke Joeckel, OT Eric Fisher, OT Dee Milliner, CB Ezekiel Ansah, DE Jarvis Jones, OLB/DE (if he clears medically) Dion Jordan, OLB/DE Kenny Vaccaro, S ??

After watching some of the combine guys who definitely should not be taken. Bjoern Werner. Domontre Moore (12 reps at 225? wtf)

Vaccaro and Jordan are not worthy of top 5 picks.

I think the Lions go with Ezekiel Ansah if he's there. I'm not 100% sold on Milliner but CB is a huge need and he's the top rated corner on the board.

Love Jarvis Jones but he is not much of a run defender. That said, nobody on the Lions is.

Joeckel and Fisher are both really good and look like elite LT prospects.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the bench press, some of these guys have close to a seven foot wingspan, bench favors shorter arms (Bell out lifted Gholston IIRC). If they have good speed and can consistently beat the guy in front of him, I'll buy that.

that is why there are ??'s after Vaccaro. We will find out about their athleticism tomorrow at the combine, but they both have really good tape. If the combine affirms that they are worthy of the pick in my opinion. My understanding is that the safety class is really deep, so I have a really hard time seeing the Lions go Vaccaro at 5. Probably should have left him off the list.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with Jordan. He's elite athletic talent. Both fast and quick and apparently pretty tough since he played through the shoulder issue during the season. If you can scheme him to rush the passer he's got great value. If you put him at OLB and leave him there ... not as much. Can Gunther use him like Derrick Thomas or Vonn Miller??

Ansah looks like he has the protypical size and speed to play DE in the Lions scheme. The problem with him imo is that you don't really know what you are getting because of lack of tape. Is he JPP or Mamula?

valid point .... It's just hard to see a guy with that small amount of upper body strength being able to shed himself from a OT. If he's only got one move (speed) then it will show on tape and professional OT's will take it away from him.

I really liked Moore a lot early on, but the more you read and the more eyes that get on him the less impressive he sounds. I don't see him as a top 5 guy right now.

I'm not sold on Ansah at all. He looks like a project. Mingo's more athletic and had more production in college.

Mingo played at like 220, that shit won't fly in the pros.

yeah, Mingo looked good today, but does he fit the 4-3 scheme the Lions use? Ansah is definitely a DE. He's 270 lbs.

They should tell him a real chick is waiting at the end and see how much the time increases. Or his dude lover I guess will make him run faster.

Dude there were like 7-8 guys in the DL group who showed up in the 6'2" 240-250 lb range. Those guys are LB's. Gives me hope for Demetrius Cooper though. Sick speed, just needs about another 30lbs.

Good for Johnny thats sick for someone listed at 5'11 175. What were his actual combine measurables?

I think Teo is a strtch in the 2nd. First, he's a middle linebacker, just about as valuable as a nickel or strong safety in the NFL these days. Second, he wasn't all that good. More than half his picks were lucky ones off deflections or Dennard hitting him in the chest. Plus he played behind a beast D line all year, and was abused against top competition in the NT game. And finally, he's got off field baggage which may not be anything, but can't be ruled out completely as a distraction.

If I'm a GM I don't consider him until round 3, maybe 4. You're going to get solid MLB's all throughout the draft and Teo just doesn't project to be a 3 down difference maker.

spot on....he's a depth guy behind a starting MLB that can and will play special teams: that's a low 3rd/high 4th rounder to me. HOwever, someone shitty like Jacksonville that needs to sell tickets will be desperate enough to take him in the 2nd.....stupid.

Jarvis Jones is likely to have a plummeting stock. Major red flags coming out about his health causing teams to take him off their boards. Think Da'Quan Bowers type fall.

Dion Jordan, as much as it pains me to say this, could potentially rise to top 5 status. Is he a top 5 player? Probably not. WIth Damontre Moore, Loutoulelei's questionable heart, and the possibility of him being a 4-3 end after bulking up, be aware he could be wearing a Lions uni. Aldon Smith comparisons only help his case.

FIsher should be the #1 pick over Joeckel IMO if the Chiefs snag Alex Smith. (Reported they most likely will be)

That would seem to be a good thing for him since one of the knocks is his size.

What red flags? If anything, the reports are showing that the stenosis is not a major issue. He's probably off some boards and will slip a bit but he's not really plummetting.
