So wait. I remember watching a game earlier this season when Austin was in center field and caught a ball that bounced off the wall (off the yellow line, IIRC) and it was ruled a double. Was I making that up? I thought it was a homer then.

you cant catch a ball off the wall. It bounced off the wall and he caught it. The runner advanced to 2nd making it a double. If he let it go it would've been a homerun

Anybody know the rule on that? Does it have to clear the yellow line or just hit the yellow line? Since they called it a double I'm assuming it has to clear it?

So the yellow line is in play. Since the ball in today's game bounced back into play it was a double (Because that is where the runner advanced to). In Jackson's case, the ball hit the yellow line and was about to go into the bulllpen. If that had happened it would've been a home run.
