It's a dumb stat though - is it one that you really want to lead the league with the fewest? The teams that don't get runners on don't hit in to DPs (SEA is easily leading the AL).

also the % Tiger outs made on groundballs is one of the lowest in baseball.

I agree with your point though. If you don't hit/ walk, you don't hit into double plays.

Not disagreeing with you, but it prompted me to look him up.
Not counting today, he's hit 277/403/557 for his career, which is pretty silly. Against Detroit for his career he's hit 292/434/635. He has 847 PAs against Detroit, most against any team. I'd bet these numbers are super high because he was in his absolute prime when he was in Cleveland which coinciding with the dark years for the Tigers. I've got nothing against the guy but won't miss him one bit.

So the tigers are actually in the half of the AL that hits in to fewer DPs.
