A Little Rare Boise State News

  • Seems simple to me. Both teams rolling out new QBs. Difference, is the game is in EL, and I'd argue going against the MSU D will be harder for your new QB than our new QB going against solid but perhaps not spectactular D of BSU.

The game will go as our respective QBs go. I give a big edge to MSU for this reason.

LOL, I don't think anyone here underestimates Boise State. Without a doubt though, the Broncos will be rebuilding, while MSU brings back an extremely talented and experienced defense. Add the best OL in Dantonio history, and MSU is looking at being rightfully favored by a TD.

  • That Georgia game is pretty misleading. You were returning a loaded team while UGA was coming off a shit year and also missing Bacarri Rambo.

  • I have a ton of respect for Boise State. Chris Petersen built a winning foundation there, and their depth is remarkable for a program that doesn't have the luxury of bringing in top recruiting classes every year. Every year we think, "Oh, Boise lost these guys so they're going to drop off." Nope, doesn't happen. They also beat about every AQ school they play. You hear people say things like, "that's easy to do when you only have to play a couple a year." Nonsense. You line up and play the game. The better team wins 9 outta 10.

Looking forward to a great game. I think it will go down to the wire.

great post and every BIT of it is accurate. Man there will be some hurtin' pups on this board if we lose this game. WAY too much overconfidence as a whole: don't get me wrong, I think we are better and the game is at home. But it won't be easy: not by a long shot.

If it is down to the wire, I will be disappointed. No way we shouldn't:

    - Be able to force at least 2 big TOs.

    - Force a large number of punts early.

    - Run at will on them.

    - Have 2-3 big plays in the passing game off of play action.

Reading up on them, this team has some talent on the OL, at QB and at TE. They will be good. But they will not be as good as last year's O for BSU, at least not yet. Meanwhile, our D is tested and proven.

  • I'm not sure we will run at will on them. With a new QB and new WRs, Boise will probably cheat up with their safeties contain Bell. I just want to see a balanced attack.

Wow, way to pick 3 games out of the entire history of your program. MSU plays 3 tougher opponents, EVERY YEAR, during their Big Ten conference schedule alone.

DJ Shockley and the Dawgs took care of business, forcing 6 turnovers on Boise's Jared Zabransky (who -I might add- couldn't handle the Georgia heat) in the first half to jump to a 24-0 lead. Georgia never looked back, and cruised to a 48-13 smackdown in Athens. Go Dawgs! To start the

It began in 2007. See video below.

  • Look, I think MSU should be favored to win this game. I think the line should be 7 points based on being at home and returning an outstanding defense.

Any MSU fan that thinks BSU doesn't have a chance in this one... sounds awfully similar to others we have played before. BSU fans understand we absolutely have a chance. Our staff does a phenomenal job preparing largely unheralded players to execute flawlessly at the highest level.

And to the poster that says Petersen can't manage to match-ups that favor his players' strengths...the guy is 73-6 and the #1 target on coaching searches from Florida to Penn St. to UCLA for a reason.

Here is my call. MD enjoys the trickeration. Given BSU's reputation, I bet he tries to out trick Petersen who in a way set the standard in that Fiesta Bowl. I expect MD to open the playbook up a bit.

  • Regarding the 2005 Georgia game....

We don't forget it. It was a necessary part of journey to where we are today. That game significantly changed how we prepare for big games especially to start the season. Our coaches had the players amped up all summer long. To say that our QB was over-stimulated would be an understatement of understatements.

This may shock you because everyone thinks these games are our Super Bowl and that we spend every hour of the summer preparing, but our team won't begin MSU prep until the week before the game. They will treat it as any other game and 'go to work' just like they do for every other game. Meanwhile, they will focus all summer on becoming better fundamentally skilled football players. This is actually one of our secrets to success. I would challenge you to pay attention and see how often people refer to how much time we must have put into preparing for this game. It will be speculated over, and over, and over again.

Absolutely not. We won't get crazy when we have a new QB and WRs. That takes a level of execution they won't be trusted with in the first game. We'll grind it out on the ground and let Maxwell make smart, safe plays. Our defense has wayyy too much power and speed to make any offensive hijinks necessary.

In no way do I see anything like a blowout, but in no way do I see Boise matching up favorably ANYWHERE. If Moore and even half of the 11 guys lost on D were coming back I would be worried, but this looks like a two-TD margin of victory in a low-scoring game.

Doubtful. We save that for ND. I view two teams as a wash on offense, MSU with the advantage on D, plus home field. We should win, but BSU is outstanding in executing their game plans.
