I don't see Caeser making any impact at WR this year, and maybe ever. I really wouldn't be surprised if he transfers at some point.

Why do you say that? Caesar I thought was hyped up big time coming out of Florida, and what I saw out of him at the spring game I like. He has size. Wasn't there also talks of moving him to TE at some point.

    WTF??? Is this really necessary.

What do mean? I am just giving an honest evaluation. He obviously had some bad luck missing his first fall with an injury. But, let's be real. He is far from home, buried behind nearly ten receivers (including walk-ons) and gets little mention from coaches/media.

Those are signs of a player likely to transfer. Now, could he prove me wrong? Sure. I just think he is a transfer candidate, like Dana Dixon and John Deyo were this summer.

  • One of the RCR had a comment about Caeser impressing in practice. Pretty silly at this point to suggest he's a transfer candidate.

NM, saw that ICE mentioned this above.

Forget recruiting hype. He is already clearly behind Lippett (SO), Mumphery (JR), Arnett (SO), Langford (SO), Sims (SO) and Fowler (JR). That is two years of that crew, and he will be fighting with Kings, Madaris, Burbridge, Barksdale, Kerrick, Kilgore, etc.

Baring massive improvement, he isn't going to see the field until 2014. I'm just not sure he will wait around to find out if he gets a turn.

As far as moving to tight end, I don't buy it. MSU emphasizes blocking at least equally to pass catching. It's more tackle than receiver at MSU, whereas it is more receiver than tackle at a place like Northwestern. If anything, he could try H-Back--like Fred Smith, and we know how that turned out--but he is a tall long-strider. I don't think he has the body or experience working out of the backfield and at the point of attack.

Why? Players transfer. And those transfers usually have similar circumstances. Based on his situation, I think he is the most likely WR to transfer, from the current crop. I've laid out my reasoning. You can disagree. That's fine.

I'll even take action on it, if anyone is interested.

    So is he gonna redshirt?

Haven't heard an answer to this - but maybe we don't have an answer just yet. You have to think with his limited PT up till this point, and now this surgery, he'll likely redshirt.

Still, if he's good enough - why not get some experience this year? The 6-week window means he should be healthy by the OSU game. In the back of my mind, 2013 could be a break-out year. Burbridge having some experience in B1G football would be valuable.

Shocker, he's behind guys all older than him. He's also a "big bodied" receiver, none of the aforementioned are.

Well, I never said he would transfer. But generally, I am suggesting that certain facts--whether gleaned from the internet or not--about Ceaser lead me to believe he could be a transfer candidate. Just like certain facts lead me to believe that Adams or Allen or Gholston or Fowler aren't going to transfer.

Could any of those players transfer? Yes. Is it likely, absolutely not.

Nothing wrong with trasnfers. They happen. Often, it benefits both parties. I think many would have considered Dixon and Deyo transfer candidates, too. I don't see why everyone is so offended that the eighth-to-tenth receiver on the roster is a trasnfer candidate. I never said he would, just that I would pay close attention going foward.

He's a RF who's yet to see a single game and is in the second week of fall camp, so saying things like that is pretty shitty, especially considering who reads these boards.

Kid is the only WR his size. He has been mentioned as being a great red zone target at this point who needs to work on his separation. He's also been mentioned as maybe being moved to TE given his size.

Talk is moving him to TE.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • I feel bad for Treadwell. He's done a lot of position swapping and he's gone where ever we needed the help. A true example of someone putting the team before his individual goals. Unfortunately, he can't seem to stay healthy. Allen is going to have that job now for a long time (presuming he can stay healthy).

Burbridge probably redshirts now....It's not the worst thing. It gives him a chance to continue his focus on the books and learn the offense.

Don't see it in MSU's system. Not to mention, I think the move would increase the transfer chances dramatically.

Yea, looks like Allen will start; he played with the 1s in the scrimmage. High praise from the coaches, but we'll see how it works out once he's on the field against real competition.

It sucks to lose an OL starter, though I suppose if you're going to lose one, it might as well be the "new guy" on the line. France played, so at least we know he's o.k. (or at least he was during the scrimmage). Not sure what's up with Burkland; heard earlier in camp he was being held out (Conway was working at LT), but that it was more of a precaution than anything.

Burkland is back practicing. He is fine.

Not very. He's clearly not informed by anything other than how he thinks a player feels. Maybe Caesar knows that he isn't ready for the field. Or maybe he is looking to take over that TE position once Sims graduates. Or maybe he sees a path for himself at WR and knows that the coaching staff does too. Maybe he doesn't give a damn about what he reads on a message board (assuming he reads it at all).

    Hey, just passing it on.

You never know when injuries will crop up. He was injured most of last year and was a raw WR out of HS. Did Fowler transfer? He's not seeing major PT until his RS JR year. I think it's premature to discuss any guys in the '11 or '12 classes as possible transfers.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Dantonio seems to like receivers who also block downfield (think Keith Nichol). With his size he seems a better candidate for that role than most of the guys ahead of him on the depth chart, but probably doesn't have enough time with the team to be good at it yet.
