George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic as a close second.

There is no question that The Beatles are one of, if no the, greatest bands ever, but to use Vh1 and Rolling Stone as references lessens your credibility.

Bridges in the Sky is great, but Breaking All Illusions is easily my favorite track on the new album.
I expect Mangini's playing to change in future albums, since he was not involved in the writing this time around.

Watch Out Pylon said...
He sings mostly blues. Some of his songs fall into the rock and pop category as well. Dude has amazing range (See:Home). He also covers a lot of old R & B tunes. He does a great cover of Stevie Wonder's "You've Met Your Match" and Donny Hathaway's "I'll Love You More Than You'll Ever Know".
tWife calls the Hathaway cover baby making music.

The OP didn't ask for most talented or influential, they said favorite. It has nothing to do with "good" and "bad" music. If a certain band gets someone's blood pumping and they enjoy listening to it, just let them enjoy it. I really don't understand why musical elitists insist on degrading and looking down on them for simply liking something they find enjoyable. Maybe it's just a pet peeve from years in the (highly hypocritical) punk rock scene, but just STFU and let people like the music they want to like.
