Exactly
I look at a recent NBA draft analysis that showed him as the 98th pick in the draft.
Look, i am not saying he isnt a good player, he is, and i stated that in my OP
But he tries to do way to much more often that not.
Other than the Gonzaga game, where he played great, he hasnt done a whole lot in really big games against the best teams on the schedule.
Lets look at the 6 biggest games on the schedule this seasonUNC 6-19 with 5 turnovers
Duke 4-15 with 5 turnovers
@OSU 5-16 with 3 turnovers
OSU 6-18 with 4 Turnovers
@UM 3-8 with 5 turnovers
UM 7-11 with 6 turnovers
So in 6 big games 31 for 87 from the field with 4.6 turnovers per game. That is the definition of trying to do too much, and it becoming glaringly obvious against good teamsAnyone. Anyplace. Anytime.

The OP is right. Green is trying to do too much, and his absence will allow others to become leaders and have bigger roles. I think Nix could lose more weight and be an AA starting four.

Everybody pretty much agreed that by Lucas and Summers graduating, the team this year might have a chance to be much improved because of better chemistry and team play.
That has pretty much proven to be the truth.
I have a feeling that next year will be the same way. Green has no doubt been the leader on this team, and they have thus far had a very good season. Personally, i think Green has been somewhat of a prima donna, has made mistakes at crucial junctures of games, and has tried to take way more of the spotlight moments on himself than his talent dictates. Loping back on defense, whining about calls, standing at the 3 point line, etc, etc. I think Izzo has kinda had to hide some frustration and had to show the outward love he has because of circumstances to some unknown extent. Dont get me wrong, i think Draymond is a great kid, but he has taken what is needed from him far beyond where it should be.Kinda an immature attitude Green has shown at times as well, considering the car keys he has been given. See the outburst at Illinois, and again yesterday, and the extremely poor decision he made with 25 seconds left. Good player put in a great position, not a great player put in a good position. Senior leaders dont make super boneheaded childish mental mistakes like that time and again. Cool it and play within the framework of the team.
He has shot 45% this year, and has nearly as many turnovers as assists, if you compare this season to his sophmore year, IMO, he was more effective, shot better, assisted almost as much per game, and turned the ball over almost half as much. Just trying to do way more than he should, and more than his talent actually dictates he should.Great Spartan and all, but i think him not being around to try and do everything next year might make the incoming players and holdovers have a higher ceiling than the current team does.He will no doubt be missed, but i dont think as much as most people probably would suspect.
I am quite confident this wont be a popular opinion, but its MY opinion.Posting member of tRCMB since 1997. It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
