I have the feeling that if I went up to an Adidas exec and said I liked it, he would look at me confused and ask "seriously?"

Is anyone in this thread in advertising or marketing? I'm wondering if someone can provide some insight into Addidas' strategy with these. Obviously they figure they can't take on Nike straight up, so the strategy is to differentiate themselves and get people talking. On that account they're succeeding. However, does this actually translate to increased sales?? Even the Walmartiest Walmart Wolverines aren't going to buy this crap....are they?
