I took Amtrak once and probably never again. From Boston to Toledo. The train we were transferring to in Albany was 3 hours late. The guy I sat next to stank to high heaven. Then he started snoring. The f-ing train was full. Finally the conductor was able to get a seat for me in a different car with no seatmate after a few stops.

I've never taken a bus or train to a destination. How easy is it to bring weed?

I wish we had an archive of the megabus thread from the old board. That was pure gold.

I used to ride it all the time when I lived in Cleveland. It's cheap and you don't get delayed making several stops like you do with Greyhound. The downside is that the buses are a little uncomfortable (not a lot of clearance on the top level). I always had good experiences on the MegaBus.

I had a roomate who used to take it to Chicago to visit his GF. He seemed to like it quite a bit.

Unbelievable, my wife was supposed to be on that route yesterday on her way back from Michigan, opted to fly instead... Guess we wont be using megabus anymore. Also found out someone was shot within feet of the station in STL in the past week.

STL news had been criticizing megabus and talking about all their pasts failures, fatal crash in NY, past DUIs for the past half hour.

I read an article recently on these budget bus lines. It didn't mention any by name, but MegaBus fits the profile perfectly.

Basically, it said it's a dangerous, uncomfortable way to travel. Poor maintenance with lots of breakdowns. Often the advertised AC or WiFi doesn't work. The drivers are scraped from the bottom of the barrel, many with known DUI convictions and drug arrests. More than a few drivers have been caught under the influence while driving passengers. And the buses don't run on time, and sometimes, not at all, even if it was booked full well in advance.

I loved the idea when I heard about it, but I'll pass on all that. If you take the $6 bus, you get $6 service, and sit next to $6 people. The novelty would wear off for me before we left the depot.

I'm taking the same route a week from tomorrow. Not so sure I'll make it there in one piece anymore.

Just bring a body bag and you will do just fine.
