Anyone else think The Avengers will be good?

  • Snake Plissken said...

I actually don't see Thanos as the next opponent for The Avengers. I see him in a Thor sequel leading up to a new Avenger movie.

Dude, this movie is going to make so much bank that the next movie they start writing will be Avengers 2 if they like it or not.

I was expecting Ruffalo's Hulk to be one of the weak parts of the movie. However, I think he nailed it and it was one of the best parts of the movie. I think they'll make another stand alone Hulk movie soon with Ruffalo.

  • I will say this: The way they've handled this whole series has been brilliant. I never would have watched Thor or Captain America if Iron Man wasn't so damn good, and I went and saw that because I'm a huge RDJ fan and it got rave reviews. Marvel Studios has earned my trust. If they make a movie, I'll go see it.

Except Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 are already in preproduction with announced release dates.

  • From what I know, Thanos without the gauntlet should be at least a match for the hulk. He's naturally pretty strong, but he also has bionic/mystic upgrades and access to a lot of technology, not to mention he's rather smart. I'm sure after Loki being more of a brain/mass numbers fight, they'll use Thanos as more of a muscle guy.

Also, can't wait for the new Spiderman and Batman movies.

    Interesting:

Jackson has a similar deal in place - the Pulp Fiction star is committed to making a total of nine films as Marvel army hero Nick Fury.

The new Spiderman looks much darker...more like the latest Batman movies.

Yeah, and more true to the comics (he makes his webs instead of it being natural), as well as better humor (I loved the car thief scene).

Haven't been following it. Didn't like the last batch, and the third one I saw on Netflix and it was dreadful. The early word I heard on this was that it was a aimed more at teenagers, so I dropped it off the radar. Saw the preview before Avengers, isn't Parker suppose to be nerdy? The dude they have playing him didn't seem nerdy.

Nerdy ish yeah, but he looks more like spiderman should (long and lanky) and making wisecracks.

The original three Spiderman movies were pretty awful, the first 2 were watchable, 3rd is absolute and god awful trash. Thankfully, the new one looks to be taking a different route and to be much better. I remember being so hyped up for the 3rd one when Venom was announced, such a let down.

Where I instantly found the link with Thanos was the "Cosmic Cube" (which they kept calling the tesseract in the movie). He knows what it is and how to use it. I don't think they'll tap that well again though.

Yeah, and from what I've read of his powers on wiki while he possesses the cube and gauntlet, I just don't see how that fits into the slightly more realistic take the movies have taken.

  • I'm probably going to see this, solely because Joss directed it. Does one have to know the source material or have seen the other movies to enjoy this?

It helps, but not necessarily. The other movies go into the backgrounds of the characters while this one uses that so it can skip it. Overall, if you want great action and comedy, you'll enjoy it.

No but if you have seen them you will enjoy how much effort was put in to tie them all together for this movie

See Iron Man. It's great. And it's on FX and Netflix and such.

  • Visually, it was fucking AWESOME. Jizz all over my eyes with the amazing CG and ScarJo ass.

That running track shot of Hulk/Thor/Cap/Iron Man/Hawkeye/Widow fighting during the final battle? Best action shot I've seen in years.

Easily the best Marvel movie, but The Dark Knight is still the gold standard obviously.

It was like ScarJo's butt was in my face for 2.5 hours. I'd pay $7.50 for that.

  • Oh and I want ONE more try at a good Hulk movie, with Ruffalo this time.

Pay Whedon whatever he wants for a Hulk and Avengers 2 and 3. He is the Nolan of the Marvel movies, now. Better than Favreau.

  • The most famous storyline in the comics involving Thanos had the character questing after The Infinity Gauntlet, a glove that when embedded with the legendary Infinity Gems, gives the wearer god-like control over the universe. In fact, that particular item can briefly be seen in Odin’s treasure room at the beginning of Thor.
