Anyone get married at the MSU Chapel?

  • My wedding is coming up this June at the MSU Alumni Memorial Chapel.

Anything I should be aware of?

    TIA

  • Are you also having a ceremony in your wife's hometown of Da Nang?

    Uncalled for.

    And no.

No it's a perfect acceptable question. We need pictures before we know what type of advice to give.

MSU Alumni Memorial Chapel comfortably seats 190 people. The chancel with its pipe organ, pulpit, choir benches and altar provides a setting appropriate for worship of any faith. The altar, a simple rectangle, was designed after the chaplain’s combination altars of World War II; accessories for various types of worship are available on site.

Bride’s Room | The room has a mirror, make-up table, clothes hooks and seating, providing a tranquil spot for dressing and relaxing before your wedding. There is also a connecting door to the women’s restroom for your convenience.

Groom’s Room | A mirror, closet and comfortable seating provide a quiet place to relax before your ceremony.

Altar Area | Consists of a Pel Pipe organ, piano, aveu organ and two pulpits with lighting and microphones. Dimmable lighting is available in the nave.

Accessories | Available for your use during your ceremony are one three-tier candelabra, two wrought iron seven-tier candelabras, two brass altar candle holders, a wrought iron kneeling bench and bud vases. If candles and aisle runners are desired, they should be purchased from the Chapel Sexton to assure all fire and safety codes are met.

Parking | Limited meter parking is available adjacent to the chapel. Located directly across from the chapel is a parking lot that is open to the public weekdays after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends.

  • Yes we got married there severally years ago. Great venue for a wedding. Pony up and hire a string quartet and put them in the balcony - wife and here family will love it. You will be to busy to notice. Make sure you have a good photographer. No flash allowed inside and it's tough to get goods photos inside. Best pics are outside anyway.

Get there early to make sure they are ready. The doors were locked when we arrived.

  • After my wife and her mother chose the venue for ceremony and reception I was asked as an after thought for my input: I suggested the chapel and reception at the U Club. Of course, they didn't take me seriously, we got married in her Catholic church and today she's converted to being a Unitarian. So much for the lifetime Catholic crap (in fairness, she was the first of four girls and I think her mother and grandmother would have had a stroke if she hadn't done it there).

Interesting. She also gave me a stroke or ten.

We're thinking of booking it for October 20th. Such a beautiful time of year and it's still available, what are the odds!!!!!!

    Location: Mumbai, India

It should still be available and no one will come to your wedding.

  • What day is it? I only ask so that I can show up uninvited.

This is a Pallas’s cat. Their round pupils give them an odd human quality. They disturb me...deeply.

Yeah, you should definitely do it for that day! Sounds perfect!

  • Fail. Its not open gameday weekends.

  • Got married their 7 years ago. Things to keep in mind - close by parking can be tight so make sure elderly grandparents arrive early. Also make sure to send out a good
map to guests that aren't familiar with campus.

Also paint the Rock the night before.

  • One of the biggest things to know is that you get in, set everything up, and then get out, especially if you are not the only wedding that day. When they say stick to your time allotment, they mean it.

  • Married my wife there in '95. One of my favorite things about getting married there was the group picture we took in front of the Alumni Chapel with everyone that came to the ceremony. Then we all walked over en masse to the Union for the reception. Good times...

  • Will be getting married in the next couple years. How much does it cost to rent out the chapel?

The quartet would be cool. If you can get an organist, consider that too. The sound really fills the chapel and has great acoustics.

  • We got married there in June, 1981. A beautiful summer day. The only issue we had was that the priests from the student parish wouldn't do a full Mass in the chapel. But that was okay with me. A full Mass at a wedding is too long anyway.

  • Got married there in 2010. The only issue as has already been stated is the obvious parking problem. We had a really small wedding and the majority of people knew campus pretty well so there was no issues. Also as someone said, they are very strict on the timing and as is usual weddings don't go as planned so that can be an issue. Finally, I would suggest getting someone good to play the piano or organ. There is nothing better than walking back down the aisle after the stress is gone with your new wife to the MSU fight song.
