Anyone get refunded for World Series tickets yet?

  • Figured the refund from Tigers would happen by now

  • You are going to be waiting a while. When they lost the "play in" game to the twins it literally took them months to refund everyone's money

    Zombie

  • Agree. In 2009, I think the refunds came in November.

Don't think -- it can only hurt the ballclub

  • Still no refund for my ALDS game 3 tickets. Get ready to wait a while.

  • They will hold your money for as long as the law allows if there is even a law.

  • I'm pretty sure the fine print said 4-6 weeks, or at least it has in the past. They've used their 4-6 weeks up every time I've waited for a refund.

This. I'm a little bummed that I didn't see that at first, but I would have bought the tickets anyway. I wrote the Tigers and they said it would take 4-6 weeks after the last game of the World Series. Seems F'ed up.

After the WS? Figured the time would start once they lost

  • From the Tigers website:

    Postseason Refund/Credit for Unplayed Games

Season, Partial Season, and Suite Ticket Account Holders: The amount paid for unplayed games will be automatically applied to your ticket account for the subsequent season if you have selected the "Credit 2012 Season" box on the front of your postseason invoice. You will receive a refund only if you indicate the Refund Option at the time of payment. REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED ONLY TO THE TICKET ACCOUNT HOLDER OF RECORD BY THE SAME METHOD AS THE POSTSEASON PAYMENT WAS MADE. IF YOUR POSTSEASON INVOICE IS PAID WITH MULTIPLE CREDIT CARDS, MULTIPLE CHECKS, OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH, ANY APPLICABLE REFUND WILL BE ISSUED TO THE ACCOUNT HOLDER OF RECORD VIA CHECK. DO NOT return tickets to the Detroit Tigers, as the barcodes on these tickets have been disabled, and these tickets have no value. Following the conclusion of the 2011 season, please allow 4-6 weeks for refund processing. Processing/Shipping & Handling fees are non-refundable.

    Please note the following:

Lost or Stolen Tickets: Please safeguard your tickets. Handle them as you would cash. Lost or stolen tickets for postseason games will not be replaced nor can they be repurchased under any circumstances.
Your postseason tickets will be mailed to you upon receipt of payment. There will be no provision to hold your tickets for pick up.
Tickets to unplayed games need not be returned. Your account will be automatically credited or refunded based on your selection at the time of purchase.

    Individual Ticket Holders

Tigers.com Internet Purchases: Ticket holders who purchased individual tickets through tigers.com via the Internet will receive an automatic refund through a credit issued to the credit card used for the original ticket purchase. The actual ticket will have no cash value AND SHOULD NOT BE RETURNED. The ticket holder will also receive a refund of the per ticket convenience fee. Per order Processing/Shipping & Handling fees are non-refundable.

Comerica Park Ticket Office Purchases: Ticket holders who purchased individual game tickets at Comerica Park must mail the entire ticket along with their name, address, email address, and daytime telephone number to: Detroit Tigers Ticket Services, Comerica Park, 2100 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48201. Please allow 4-6 weeks for refund processing. Please return tickets by DECEMBER 1, 2011. When returning via mail, tickets must be returned by Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested, or express packaging with tracking capability. The Tigers are not responsible for tickets mailed to Comerica Park and not received unless the ticket holder has proof of receipt by the Detroit Tigers.

Tickets for the 2011 Division Series, League Championship Series and World Series are being distributed for you or your organization's personal use. THE DETROIT TIGERS WILL NOT REFUND ANY TICKETS OBTAINED FROM A SECONDARY SALE OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASED TICKET.

Yeah, that's why it's F'ed up. They're just sitting on the money. I figure it can't take that long to do refunds either. Plus they get to keep the handling fees, etc.

    Why?

The Tigers will keep that money in an account and earn a little interest on it before they issue refunds. Plus, they'll call you around Spring and see if you want to put it toward season tickets or something.

I wouldn't expect a refund till the end of Spring Training. This is standard operating procedure around sports.
