Pull your skit up and gargle with warm salt water about once an hour.

If it is really bad, boil the hell out of some chopped-up fresh ginger (I'm talking like 2-3 hours on a hard boil replenishing the water as necessary). Throw in a handful of black tea at the end and mix it with a healthy dose of honey. If you make the ginger solution strong enough you won't feel your throat for days.

I have had a cold/cough 90% of college so far. I'm a grad student.

Score! Being sick all of the time is like having a built-in excuse for missing or tanking on exams.

Started to get something last week. Pounded Emergen-C and Zinc tablets. And fought it off!

Kid has been hacking for 3 weeks. Doc says to deal with it. His cousin was similar. His doc said it is pneumonia and gets the antibiotics. Personally, as of today, I am on the tail end of a freaking 2 week cold which started as a sore throat. Good luck.

ps, I am hearing about a lot of peeps deaing with a so called "walking pneumonia".

After putting in your symptoms into web MD you probably have Interstitial Lung Disease

"Interstitial lung disease is a group of disorders that cause scarring of lung tissue. This makes it hard to breathe in enough oxygen. Usually, interstitial lung disease develops slowly over time. Pneumonia, infections, autoimmune diseases, radiation therapy, certain medicines, and exposure to asbestos or certain kinds of dust can cause it. Sometimes it has no identifiable cause. People with interstitial lung disease may have shortness of breath, a dry cough, fatigue, fever, weight loss, and muscle aches. Medications can help slow down the rate of lung damage, but people may never have full use of their lungs."

I had a sore throat over St. Pats that wouldn't go away--turns out it was an infection. I'm around high school kids a few times a week, so I probably got it from them. Went to urgent care, got antibiotics; all good now.

But then my biannual cold decided to crop up last week, so I've been coughing up snot for a few days now, and probably will for a few days more.

The good news is I have 12 sick days or something for the year, so I was able to get the R & R (or sitting on the couch watching Top Gear) that I needed.

I had a cold starting mid last week , its gone all except I can't shake the cough . It's pretty annoying hopefully gone completely after another week.
