Anyone heading to see Radiohead tonight?

  • First Detroit area show in 15 years tonight at the Palace. Anyone else in?

    Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.

Saw them last week here in cincy. It was a great show, and both Caribou and Radiohead should be even cooler in a dark arena instead of an open air pavilion.

  • Saw them in Phoenix and it was horrible. Unless you absolutely love the new material you'll be bored. I was extremely disappointed. I understand that they've moved in other directions musically but a 2 hour show and less than a handful of pre-Kid A radiohead... Sorry. The Cure, however, frequently plays for over 3 hours and covers a wide range of materiel.

I am going more as a guest of my brother, who is a huge fan but his wife (no pics) is not. Love Kid A, and to a lesser extent rainbows.

  • I'll be there. I've actually never seen them live but always wanted to.

  • I just looked over the playlist from the show I went to, and they played 4 songs from Kid A and Subterranean Homesick Alien from OK Computer. That's not bad considering they have 4 albums that came after Kid A.

  • 1) their new music is terrible - I am very open minded about music but it's just awful. Fans have been waiting for ok computer 2 for years and pretend to like the garbage radiohead releases.

    2) great! 1 song from arguably one of the best albums in the 90s! What about the bends?

    3) I knew the show was going to suck when Yorke said after playing 2 songs that they're focused in the future not the past

    You should tweet them.

Fuck radiohead. I imagine them laughing everytime they release a steaming pile of redundant, computerized, self indulgent shit record and reading the critics' reviews praising them as geniuses. If the music critics had any balls at all then radiohead wouldn't even be around anymore. I'm a positive person so I did find some enjoyable things about the show but I wouldn't see them again. This was the worst of the shows I've seen which includes ok computer, kid a, hail to the thief, and the previous album

Pretentious hipster radiohead fanboys like cheese reject "creep" which although was a huge hit, and somewhat demonized, is actually a brilliant song. If they ever played that song in concert all the misfit rejects that claim to hate that song would go berserk.

It's a bigger argument, but I don't have a problem if bands don't play the old stuff. I don't have to go. I don't like seeing people sing stuff they are clearly tired of (once saw Stipe give a really lame version of Losing My Religion and wished he hadn't bothered). I will go see almost anyone play once. Have only seen a handful multiple times..

What a positive person you are.

I like Creep just fine. They played Karma Police during one of their encores when I saw them for the In Rainbows tour and it was fantastic. I think it's great that they only play those sorts of songs once in a while.

I don't care about bands changing their direction. If I don't like it, I won't keep buying their stuff or going to their shows (see: Weezer).

Oops, I missed one. they also played Airbag from OK Computer. So...of 20 some songs, 6 were from that album or Kid A.

Thom Yorke also played a little cover of Neil Young's After the Goldrush.

  • Some people buzzing about Jack White possibly jumping onstage tonight. Doesn't make a lot of sense, as it's been reported that White spends most of his time in Nashville these days.

Exactly. I'd love to see Radiohead, but after looking at the setlists from earlier in the tour, I decided no way. I can understand being over playing Creep for the 1800th time and being confident in your newer material is great. However, if you don't play at least some of the songs you're best known for, casual fans (like me) won't come out. Is it that hard to mix in 3 or 4 songs from the Bends and something from Pablo Honey (Anyone Can Play Guitar, perhaps)

Saw The Shins in Vegas and they started the show with two songs from chutes too narrow, 2 albums ago

  • For Radiohead, two albums ago is Hail to the Thief, which is also 9 years old. Kid A and Amnesiac are both 11+ years old now. Pablo Honey is damn near 20 years old and isn't what defines them as a band.

I go to and I've been to a lot of concerts and no band I've ever seen turns their back on their "older" music like radiohead does. I really don't think they give a fuck about their fans. I've seen them at least five times and the best shows were kid a tour. Since then they've gotten worse. They barely engaged the crowd at all during the show in Phoenix. They're pretentious abd self absorbed. It seemed more like a job for them to perform. The Cure on the other hand will play as much shit from as many albums as they possibly can.

I can say with near absolute certainty it will be you and only you in attendance.

I'm stoked because I've never seen them live before. Honestly I stopped paying attention after Amnesiac, so I be hearing many of the new songs for the first time. I agree though that you should see a huge act like this at least once just to see what it's like and to say that you did it.

  • Best line I've ever heard about Radiohead "if their music is so good why doesn't anyone play them at a party?"

Kid Rick said that drinking up in Clarkston one night.
