Anyone on here a cop?

  • I'm looking at possibly going into law enforcement. Anyone on here have any insight about that field?

  • FYI, my uncle is a Police Officer in Redford, has been for twenty years. All he's ever told me is that he wishes he had never become an officer and how I should never consider it as a career choice. Very emotionally taxing profession. Take that for what it's worth...

    have you or a family member ever been subject to police misconduct/brutality? If not you then you really dont understand.

    In all seriousness though it is common knowledge that police officer conduct illegal searches and seizures and then perjure themselves about it in court on a regular basis. The cops think its o.k. to do these things to make sure the law is followed, which is ironic because the aforementioned actives are illegal. I don't see how committing a felony is justifiable to make sure a person guilty of a misdemeanor or is convicted.

    Read this book sometime, It is available at the msu library if your broke.

    Have you been the victim of such injustice? To imply that every police officer, or even the majority of them are bastards or dirty or break the law "on a regular basis" is asinine. I'm not saying it doesn't happen eve, as I'm sure it happens, but people line up in droves to bash the police until they need police assistance. Those people protect you community with the power that you've entrusted them with. If a few are assholes, so be it. I had dickhead teachers too but not all teachers are ignorant and vindictive. It's not fair to assume that every cop is a pig or out to get you.

    My friends in school for criminal justice and he's already been offered a few jobs that would require him to drop out and start right away, because they don't require degrees.

    It still is inappropriate to accuse all police officers of being unjust, because it's generally not the case. I agree with the point you made that police should follow the law to a T, and if I were an officer I would do just that as I'm sure you would too. The key thing here is that you are not an officer, and neither am I. They see things and deal with people on a daily basis that you and I never would encounter under casual circumstances, it is a difficult job but a very necessary one, and they deserve respect for the job they do. We trust them to make our community safe and for the most part, they do. That wouldn't be the case if they were all assholes.

    Being a dick and being a loser in a position of power are two different things. My uncle is a huge dick and everyone who knows him acknowledges that, but these people do more than swing a nightstick and pound donuts, when you need them they come running o save your ass.

    It's also inappropriate to say you don't understand all the hate they get, when there are grave injustices occurring on a daily basis.

    Though alot of the blame could be shifted to the scumbag prosecutors who encourage such behavior on the part of the officers.
