Anyone use MLB.tv on your Xbox 360?

  • I'm leaning towards getting it because I'm not in Michigan anymore.

Really want to know if I can watch archived games like the ones from the Boston series.

    TIA

I don't use MLB.tv through an Xbox, but through a computer you can watch archived games. I would assume it should be the same.

The only thing to remember is that you need MLB.TV Premium to use your Xbox, which costs more but also gives you access to every Tigers broadcast (unless blacked out) and a free At Bat 12 app allowing you to watch or listen to games on your smart phone.

So I can pick the broadcast I want to watch?

What I think I'll do is purchase it for this month and see how it goes.

MLB Extra Innings is another option since I have DirecTV but they make you purchase the entire package to the best of my knowledge.

    Thanks.

  • I live in NC, there is no such thing as MLB around here. At least I got the Durham Bulls but thats it. I have the MLB premuim, I had it last year though i lived in a hotel the entire second half of the year. If you get the season package it's $125 for 6 months it's like 77 cents per game!!! This deal is worth it, plus you get to watch Mario and Rod allen every game.

No, but I did use HBO GO last night on the Xbox 360 for the first time. Comcast wasn't allowing it for the first week, but worked it out with HBO.

    The HD quality was outstanding.

The only thing to be careful with I suppose is making sure you don't go over your broadband data limit with your internet provider. I can imagine that regularly watching HD games every week might start to really eat up the bandwidth.

  • If you even think you want it, just get it. Yes, you can watch any past game from this season. I use the PS3 and it's not quite HD quality (your mileage may vary), but it's pretty good nonetheless

Yeah, I watch HBO GO on my Xbox 360 more than regular HBO. There's no point in watching it off DirecTV since all of it on the Xbox 360 is on demand. And yes I agree, it's nothing short of spectacular considering EVERY episode from EVERY show ever made by HBO is available.

Yes, data limits are a consideration, but I don't believe my ISP (Webpass) has them.

  • I live in NC also and have it. I was driving home from Raleigh on Easter Sunday and missed the game but I was able to listen to it in the car through my phone and then rewatch it when I got back. Such a great feature and so much cheaper than extra innings.

If you have MLB.TV premium, you can choose the home or away television broadcast. There are only two situations where you are blacked out. First, when the Tigers play in your market, although you can just watch the opposing broadcast on television. Second, when the Tigers play on a national broadcast (ESPN, TBS, Fox). When it is Fox, it sucks because they have rights to two to four simultaneous games and they show the most regional broadcast. In that case, you may not be able to watch the game, although you can watch the archived game or listen through the radio access you also get with the package.

    Thanks for the info.

I think I'm going to watch archived games. Baseball isn't exactly something I can sit down and dedicate three hours for on the TV.

What's cool is that on the Xbox 360, you can apparently use a Kinect sensor to move along the timeline of the game.

  • Best $125 ever spent. With Premium you can watch any broadcast (home, away, or 'park sounds') of every MLB game, on demand. Archived games. You can skip innings or start from the 7th if you want. You can watch on a laptop, XBox, PS3, iPhone, Droid, etc. You can watch last years playoffs. I can't recommend it enough. It streams in HD too. The only thing I'll mention is they will auto-renew next year at the same price so watch out next February in case you don't want it again.

  • Just bought it on Sunday. I like it so far and seems like I'm going to get my monies worth on it. Unsure about going back to watch the games that already played but I'm pretty sure you can. I guess I'll find out today after work.

    You can definitely go back.

I'll also point out to the OP (and others) some nice functions on Premium. When watching on a laptop you can watch any MLB game, and you can split screen, too. Last year on the last day of the season with Boston and Atlanta collapsing and other division races I had all the games on one screen and saw everything. It was awesome. Not a feature I use often but its there if you want it.

I love 'park sounds' the most. Its basically the TV broadcast without any announcers. You hear the crowd, vendors, and game sounds. Good for late games on West Coast or if you're watching on a laptop while your wife watches some dumbass tv show.

  • mlb.tv is pretty much the greatest thing ever if you're a baseball fan. They have a free game on every night that you can watch on your computer for those that want to try it out without buying. Tonight's is KC @ Oakland at 10:05.

    Also note:

    * If you go with the monthly payments (did this a couple years ago to save money by skipping April and another month while I was away from home), they will charge you full price for October, so be sure to cancel before then. They refused to refund me even though there were only 3 or 4 games that month.

    * Also, if you choose the monthly payment option, even if you uncheck the "auto-renew monthly" box, it still auto-renews monthly.

    Great product, bad customer service.

Nice, thanks for the info and the heads up about the auto-renewal. I'd probably renew anyways, but it pisses me off when companies do that.

Love how I can select my feed. Will check it out on the 360 when I get home.

It's worked perfectly for me on my XBOX. After the first few seconds of loading I can't tell the difference between it and MLB Extra INNINGS.
