What about speculating about someone else's speculation?

I would guess that guy is going to get the stink eye if he shows up at practice. coachd

Probably true. Coach D hears everything and will likely stare a hole through Couch's forehead.

Could be true but this is a classic example of Comp. spin. Sitting on info until after the fact so he can weave a narrative that fits best with fact and his own personal self interests.

Actually Comp has been saying this since early in the year.

It adds up. We all remember Arnett's ego during the recruiting process. Then after leaving UT, he comes to MSU and fans thought he would be the savior of the receiving corps. He looks horrible on a reverse against Boise, then complains about playing time publicly in a paper after one catch against a second string MAC DB late in a blowout. And then when he gets in, he appears to be complaining to Maxwell when the ball isn't thrown his way.

If they play Arnett despite not earning it in practice (regardless of whether he's a "gamer"), and/or despite having some attitude issues, then there is a longer-term detriment that that can have to the program. Think 2002.

It's a gradual progression, come on man. He could have it 80% down for tOSU, which wasn't enough for the staff, but showed 90% the week of IU, which was enough to get a green light. You never know when a young player is going to cross that threshold.

Rocky.... jesus. You've blowing so much hot air I'm afraid you're going to float away.

  • Seems like a good kid. Hope he starts to earn more playng time and becomes a contributor for us. Kid has some talent, that's obvious as he was a top 100 recruit.

That being said, he had 24 catches for Tennesee. Big deal, it;s not like he was a 50+ catch guy, they used him more down there, maybe their 4th and 5th receivers aren;t as good as ours, their top couple certainly were quite good, but Arnett beat out those other guys where as he can;t beat out our 4th and 5th guys.

I wish the kid the best, he's a Spartan now and I think he'd be making a mistake by switching schools again.

huh? he's 100% correct. It's called recovering from an injury and there being a learning curve. you do know that the passage of time allows the body to heal and the brain to absorb more information, right? Why is it so difficult to understand that AB needed time to get back in to game shape along with learning enough to not be a liability on the field? There's more to playing WR than catching balls. There's timing, blocking, etc etc etc.

It's seriously disturbing that so many people here seem to be so stupid that they can't comprehend how a fucking FRESHMAN would need a few weeks before he was ready to play - especially a freshman that hurt his knee on the 2nd day of fall camp. I'm sure he got a little bit better each week, learned more each week, and got in better shape each week...and by the IU game was ready to play. End of fucking story.

You do realize that Arnett's 24 catches last season was more receptions than Bennie Fowler had in his entire career going into this year right? Arnett was the receiver with the most game experience playing WR going into this season.

Do you remember last season when people were saying that the missing piece to the puzzle was Fowler? Or when going into this season people said Fowler had the stuff of a #1 WR? People said Fowler was the deep ball guy we were missing last year....That he could stretch defenses. Wait until we get Bennie Fowler back.....

Arnett had more game experience as a true Freshman than Bennie Fowler had in his entire career. And in a tougher conference.

Yeah, quit with your damn facts, they make it harder to pick up pitchforks. And don't you dare bring up the fact that he missed all of summer conditioning and 7-on-7 at State because he had to stay at FHH to take classes. Nor should you ever, ever bring up that the knee injury he suffered on his third day of college practice was diagnosed to keep him out 6-8 weeks.

Yep, and he's not out-performing him in practices, so he's not playing.

I don't see whats so hard about this. Let the coaches do their jobs

This is the part that kills me.
    "Our receivers suck!"
"And Arnett isn't beating them out in practice."
    "PLAY ARNETT!!"

Hasn't Fowler had some nagging injuries?

Wasn't he also playing behind guys named Cunningham, Martin, and Nichol (and Dell in 2010)?

Experience beating out receivers on a shit team in a good conference don't make him a better receiver. Would you promote employees on their performance with you or their resumes?
