PBS will be showing the Tom Waits "Austin City Limits" performance that was recorded in December 1978; just after the release of "Blue Valentines." The show is on at 11 PM tonight (December 22) on the West Michigan PBS station (WGVU). It may be showing at other times in other areas.

Depending on your provider in Metro Detroit its on at 11pm (WTVS2) or midnight (WTVS1). I have Comcast and I believe they are 284 and 240.

Here in the Lansing area, WKAR isn't showing it until Friday the 29th, 11pm.

Just got around to watching it. That was great. Thanks again to the OP.
I'm not sure everyone in the crowd knew who he was or his style. It seemed akward a few times when some of the lyrics drew laughs. Not sure that's what Tom intended. Regardless, his storytelling is amazing and intense. The way he can weave through a 10 minute Burma Shave is great.
Side note. Did anyone else's PBS cut to a wolf or a fox walking in the snow about half way through the show? I freaked out momentarily but it only lasted about 5 seconds then flipped back to the concert. At first I thought it was an acid flashback or a glitch in the matrix.

No, nothing happened on the feed shown in West Michigan on WGVU. I loved the performance and, showing my age,remember back to the late seventies when people weren't sure what to make of Mr. Waits. Many thought his personna was just a schtick. I became an early fan when I used his song "Step Right Up" as the soundtrack for an animated film I had to make for a film class I took at MSU in 1979.
