B1G-Pac 12 alliance dissolves

Apparently four Pac-12 teams pussied out, and the B1G wouldn't accept an agreement only including the other 8. As disappointed as I am (these would've been some great match-ups), it's hard for me to blame them. They already have the 9 game conference schedule, a couple of them have annual series scheduled with teams like ND. There's a reason MSU wouldn't go along with a 9 game B1G schedule, a Pac-12 game, and ND every year...it just becomes almost impossible to guarantee 7 home games. Oh well, I know the 9 game conference B1G schedule isn't perfect, but at least it'll keep us from going 4 years without playing PSU or Wisky.

The problem now is the PAC-12 deal was going to put pressure on the B!G to not go to a unbalanced 9 game schedule. Now the 9 game B1G schedule would seem more likely.

Oh well, we already have the Oregon series and they are the team I would most want to play along with USC. Playing Bama/Miami/Boise in coming years with a Pac 12 team and ND would he stupid even with an 8 game conf schedule anyways.

And I know there are some major major drawbacks to the 9 game schedule, but at the very least it'd improve our strength of schedule and avoid these 4 year droughts between matchups.

Would not shock me if the Big Ten gets a deal done with the SEC or Big 12 now.

Would have loved going out to those campuses to see games. I guess the Oregon game is the only one I'll be attending.

Mega fail by the pac 10. Completely forgetting the new tv station they have that needs programming. Id look for the big ten to turn to the big east or acc now, which is a much better fit for travel.

Only for the Champions Bowl. I see the Big 12 more then the SEC hoping on a deal to play the Big Ten in a challenge. Only thing is, none of the games should be on LHN unless the school on there is getting a major cut.

Side Note: This is why, imo, a playoff will never be legit until automatic bids are awarded to conference champs. People are still afraid to schedule tough, and rightfully so with the current system. Lose 2 tough games early in the season and your chances at the NC are done.
Teams would be much more likely to schedule 2 or 3 really tough non-con games if losing all of them wouldn't affect their shot at the NC.

I'm actually pretty happy about this. It gives us more flexibility to play whoever we want (including Pac-12 schools). I'd like to see us hit major recruiting hotbeds. Georgia Tech, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, TCU, Houston, Baylor, Rutgers, UCLA.

There's a reason why most of those schools I listed are mid-level schools that aren't in the national title picture (VA Tech being the only exception). Mid-level schools will be interested to have a national game against a good opponent. If I had said Texas, USC, and Georgia... then you'd have a point.

Which isn't ideal either..
The goal of the B1G is Rose Bowls and NT games. It's going to be even harder for B1G teams to make the top 4 if they are playing 1 tough OOC games + 10 B1G games
