Bama vs. Michigan

  • Michigan beating Alabama really has no bearing on MSU's prospects for the rest of the season.

Cause the thought of Michigan losing by 42 points is just unheard of. Just wont happen.

Hoke wont let it happen unlike Dantonio (who pretty much sucks in big games)

What was Bo's record in bowl games?

How did he do in games with National Championship implications?

Because we sure sucked against Wisconsin and Georgia last year. Hail Mary, bitch.

I also didn't know your overweight monkey was playing for UM - players win the games in the end, coaches just coach and recruit. The "amazing" recruiting classes you've had the past 4 years have spoken volumes in East Lansing. Give it a break and go back to figuring out what you'll post after Bama blows you out.

  • Dude...if you are looking for a "cease of hostility" for the good of the conference, you have come to wrong place. MSU doesn't owe this conference for anything. We get screwed more times than Kim Kardashian.

Even when MSU earns a better record, beats your chUMps head to head, your school gets the nod for a better bowl/ranking. So screw UofM. You don't need our support when you have the networks, the B1G Commissioner, and Bowl Officials in your corner.

Well under Dick Rod(the worst coach in Michigan history), you're right. Those teams were pitiful and you guys acted like you won the Rose Bowl after each win.lol

So what happens with last year? what's the spin on that one? Fucking douche.

So you are saying that Rich Rod recruits like Denard are worthless. You are cutting down your own team. You are as dumb as they come and why aren't you at walmart stocking my little debbies.

No, but it's football and wanting another team to blow out UM should be second nature. Football doesn't need to have a point.

  • I didn't want this to turn into bringing up past games, etc.

Just a simple question really, would a Michigan win be ok with MSU fans if the plus side of SOS and Conference Ranking would help MSU down the road?

When looking at this matchup the area I think UM needs to be concerned with is how their lines will match up with Alabama.

When UM is on defense, they will have to deal with Bama's OL, which is generally considered the best in the country (Outland Trophy winner returns, 2 other potential 1st rounders). I have to wonder if UM has the size or depth in the trenches defensively to compete, especially in the 2nd half. What has happened in the past against teams that lack that depth defensively is that runs that were going for 4-5 yards a carry in the 1st half turn into 25 yard gains because the LB corp just isn't good enough to make up for the DL getting blown off the ball.

Offensively I don't think UM can play smash mouth because Bama's front 7 is just too good. My guess is Borges will have to bootleg Denard out of the pocket to put pressure on Bama's younger DB group to cover in space and create mismatches. The question is can he A) avoid turning the ball over, B) stay healthy for 4 quarters C) convert opportunities when they open up through the air?

If Denard can step up and the DL can hold up, it will be a great game. If not, watch out.

I don't think Michigan has the weapons, or depth, to keep up with Bama. Like you said, it will take a pretty outlandish performance by Robinson and a strong, and unexpected, display by the DL to keep this game close. I'm not expecting much, but I'll be there regardless. It'll be a fun atmosphere.

Check the votes on your OP. And, as another poster said, there's quite likely no way a UM win against Alabama helps MSU's prospects in any way.

Brady Hoke. Crying in the post-game. That's what I'm hoping for. I'll take a beatdown, but I'm hoping to see video of Brady crying.

No it would not. SOS and Conference ranking have no bearing on anything in the current system. Michigan fans should know this (even though they'll never admit.

Why do Michigan fans keep trying to cone up with excuses to get us to want Michigan to win?

We don't like you, a lot of fan based don't like you. Just get over if and go back to the protected little world Don Canham created and his blue wall maintains.

I don't care if you want us to win or not. It has no effect on the outcome of the game. I was just posing a question for discussion.

Aaaaaaaaand he answered it. No upside to MSU for a UM win. No "love" for UM here at any time, period. If you can't get self-interest into the game, you got no chance.

As far as a "question for discussion," it's a pretty binary one, and everybody is flipping the switch to "no," for rational MSU-related reasons, as well as emotional, rivalry-related reasons. (rumor And yes, we realize that there isn't a "rivalry" from your side of the fence. right)

    The End.

  • The amount of butthurt in this thread is astounding. Really guys, the original post wasn't a flame in any way and you can't just discuss it or ignore it. Then a very obvious troll comes in and you guys go off like clockwork. Chill the fuck out, respond what you think and don't try to flame/fall into troll traps.

As for the thread itself, no, I don't want Michigan to win at all. I'd love for the B1G to beat the head hog over at the SEC, but in regard to UofM fans and the battle over media coverage/recruits within Michigan, I'd rather you guys lose while we get some more (and needed) ground covered in the media/recruiting grounds.

    Metal_Sparty

  • It blows my mind why would MSU EVER cheer for UofM unless there are mitigating circumstances? UofM's bball team whiped their rear end on MSU's floor, their 5 foot 2 inch RB insulted our FB team, their university tried to stop MSU from becoming both an institution and a Big Ten member and we listen to a fanbase who many of them have no personal connection to UofM at all make fun of our school when the school they rave on and on about has won 1 national title in over SIXTY years. It is a rivalry, neither side has to or should like each other and certainly doesn't root for each other.

  • A real conundrum indeed.

At first, I thought it would be great if a B1G team were to beat 'Bama. Then after a few milliseconds, I realized, it would be WORSE for the B1G, college football and humanity if UM were to beat 'Bama. There is no conundrum.

Seriously. UM must get destroyed. Beat down. Curb stomped. Think about it. If UM keeps it within 14, they'll spin it like UM actually won the game.

Imagine the media nonsense, the hyperbole....the overall insufferable bullshit we'd have to hear about UM. A program that gets more unwarranted support from almost all media in college sports. It would be local (UM's control of the Detroit area media) and national (look no further than the prick Desmond Howard on ESPN, not to mention the horse face and others). Everywhere. All of the time. A blown out story line about a program that is not as popular or as good as they they think they are.

    It. Would. Be. Horrible.

Frankly, UM's sense of unfounded arrogance (how about those wins from 1920?) and self entitlement, coupled with the most delusional, whiniest fan base in sport...UM can die a slow death in a pit of fire for all I care.

UM does NOTHING good for MSU. They are pompous, overrated asses.
