Sheesh, dude, you've been around here since the beginning. If you have issues/problems, you come here for laughs--not real advice. With a post like this, you get 90% shit and 10% help. It's the ways it works. I've had questions/issues. I rolled with the shit and had a laugh, and I thanked the others. You have to know half the peeps on here were teenagers not that long ago, so would you ask your kid's friends for advice, or their older siblings? You ain't far off doing it here.

My daughter knows my line for her first dates, "Hey kid, I'm not afraid to go back to prison."

I do respect the way you are going about it, but to support a kid having sex under the age of 18 is completely wrong, in my opinion. (note: that is my opinion. I understand ours our different)

Let me drop all of the sarcasm, and all of the blahblahblah and bullshit for a moment:

I have raised my kids to respect themselves, to respect each other, and to respect others. We have taught them wrong from right, or OUR opinion of what is wrong and right.

They are wonderful people. They will be incredible adults, and great assets to their communities. They are not perfect, and we do not expect them to be.

I have had 14 foster kids, and what I was trying to convey in my original post about that is that I have seen a lot of screwed up kids in my house. The most screwed up of the kids were the ones that were/had been sexually active. Teenagers are generally not prepared emotionally for the crap that they have to deal with in that situation.

I seriously have a lot of respect for the fact that you are teaching your kids how to be safe, how to be respectful, and how to be responsible. None of my comments were meant to say anything otherwise. However, you are obviously a person that cares very much about your kids, and their future. That reinforces my feelings that if you had daughters, you would look at this differently.

I do not understand the theory of abstaining from marriage until 30, but go ahead and have sex as teenagers. You have lost me there.

However: respect, responsibility, and the knowledge that if I screwed up I was going to get my ass kicked.....has done very well for me.

The key is something that I think you hit on, and that is that everyone is different. I kind of fall into your stats myself. I was married just before I turned 25. It lasted a little over a year. I was married the 2nd time at 27, and 19 years later we are still very happy. (she is a pain in my keester, but there was a different maturity level at 25 than there was 27.) My practice wife, as I call her, is and always has been an incredible person. A damn outstanding human being. But we just didnt work out, and it was probably mostly me.

Anyways, I should also clarify one other thing, the boy that I was talking about is mine, not a foster. He started out as a foster and his mother ran away, leaving him sleeping in his bed. Love that boy with all of my heart, just like he is of my blood. But he will get the same lessons that my girls did. Its just the way I am.

There were two gf's in my past whose fathers taught me that a crazy dad is just as much birth control as anything else could be. Mr Dorin and Mr Taylor were crazy SOBs, but they taught me that their daughters were treasures to be saved, and that I would have to want to die for it, because that is what would happen. Would they really kill me? Probably not. But I wasnt going to chance it. (I know for a fact now, as an adult, that Mr Dorin is one of greatest men to walk the planet)

Anyways, Im not crazy, but I dont mind if the boys dating my daughters think that I am!!! [LOLing Out Loud]

Ive never had a problem. I can say that you have to set it as an exception in your security programs, but I have never had a problem just from visiting the site.

I was thinking a few of her teachers as well. Not ALL of them though, don't want to offend the guy.

3 weeks ago my son totals his car while messing with the radio. 2 weeks ago he needs to go to the bank and asks to borrow my car to run to the bank a minute. I decline but his begging and pleading along with the fact the bank is only 1 mile away sways me. He proceeds to drive it all over town, intending to blow off the rest of the day at work, never answers his cell, and 3 hours later I get a phone call that he totaled it by running into the back of someone. Now he has the nerve to act like I'm being a jerk because I'm still ticked at him about it.

Hey, the old banghead is back! Apparently I haven't posted in a while.

We have had similar car issues with our 16 year old. She now is on a "permission to drive somewhere" basis. She drives where she needs to go, and then home. If there are changes in plans, they have to be approved ahead of time. Too much trouble out there these days, and different trouble than I used to get into.

We are beginning to loosen the reigns a little more on her, but at 16 you cant be too careful.

No that's just pure fun right there.
