Best thing about last night's loss...

  • It served up a pretty big helping of humble pie as we head into March.

  • Where a door is closed a window is opened. Now we can clinch outright with a win at home on Senior Day.

The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.

  • I agree 100%... I was thinking to myself if we were to win out and win the BTT i would be worried about the Humble pie and desire for improvement. This should make us come out strong, and reEarn our spot as a 1 seed.... perfect time to take a loss (if there was a time)

  • so we have to win the btt to get a one seed

  • My major thought last night after accepting defeat, was thankfulness for this year's team and their results on the year.

That game last night, was seemingly groundhog day for our losses last season...we get down 10 early and play even the rest of the way ending in a 10 point loss.

Playing on the road in the B1G is tough no matter what. Same could be said about our "shitty" game at Northwestern.

Regardless, MSU Basketball likely has a few more doubters after last night and this can be a good thing when it comes to Izzo embracing the role of underdog and proving all the talking heads wrong.

I know. I really hated the sweep of Wisky, the sweep of Purdue, the (soon to be sweep) win over OSU, the wins over UM and IU as well.

I wasn't mad at all watching that game. They're playing extremely well and are a very talented team. We had an off night on the road in the B10. We will be just fine.

  • It was also our last true road game of the season. Hopefully we will only be wearing white jerseys the rest of the way through.

    Sports Mechanic

  • Only thing that worries me is lack of a consistent outside scorer. Appling, Wood, and Thornton (although he has been much more reliable) have the talent and the shooting ability, but they just aren't falling.

I agree with OP though. Loss should wake everyone up a little bit and refocus them. That can get lost during a winning streak. If we were going to lose, I would have picked that game.

It also once again demonstrated how bad we are when only ONE player shows up. HORRIBLE.

UM, Green Bay and Chicago teams all have one thing in common: They all suck

    Clemenza

  • Honestly I was thinking the same thing, I really didn't want a long winning streak going into the Tourny. A little reminder of what losing feels like is a good thing, since they will not want to repeat it.

    Straight ignorant garbage.

UNC: Green, Dawson and Payne all played well.
Duke: Appling and Wood both had great games.
@NU: Green, Dawson play well. Appling did OK.
@UM: Thorton and Nix played well. Appling again OK.

So this has happened one time the entire year. Nobody needs your anecdotal bullshit just to bitch about nothing.

Dude Dawson played like absolute crap vs NW.

The first 3 defensive possessions of the 2nd half: Dawson got burned on a backdoor cut for baskets twice and on the third time he fouled the guy instead of give up the easy bucket. Izzo pulled him and he sat the next 15 minutes or so. Didn't come back in til the game was out of reach.

Yeah, we got it. We just didn't like it. You talkin bout Sound of Music....not our B1G title...not our game...but Sound of Music. Not 'bout the Spartans we live and die for....but Sound of Music. I mean how silly is that. You talkin bout Sound of Music. I know as a 5 star poster I'm 'possed to lead by example and not rate and downvote other Spartan posters, but you talkin bout Sound of Music, man.....

  • Indiana played just as well if not better than when they played Kentucky. This game was as much about how good IU can be as it was about MSU's weaknesses.

If Oladipo learns how to handle the ball better he will be BTPOY next year.

Appling needs to be able to penetrate and make plays in the half court set...that is really lacking. For a first year PG he is doing fine, but he's not championship caliber yet.

If Wood can't hit shots he shouldn't be playing. We will see over the next week.

  • It's all in the rebounding. Got to get back to basics. Our rebounding has struggled the last 3 games.

"Absolute crap" is stretching it about as much as I'm stretching it by saying "well".

I guess we should agree more like OK. Yeah he got beat a couple times, he also put up 9 and 6 on 3-3 FG and 3-4 FT. Solid offensive production.

My point remains that in all but one game, we've at least had someone playing decent second and/or third fiddles. Some people on here piss and moan just to get things started up and its annoying. We're a pretty balanced team, and we're going to do damage in the Tournament.
