Better phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC One X?

My old HTC phone can't hold a charge anymore and I'm due for an upgrade pretty soon. Many are calling the Galaxy S3 an 'iPhone killer' but who really knows. The HTC One X looks pretty damn slick as well. I'm not trying to get an iPhone either, so all the "Buy an iPhone" responses will be void.

I'm buying an S3 from Verizon without an upgrade. I don't care if it's 5-600 bucks, I need a new phone. My Droid RAZR sucks ass.

I really like the HTC One, and am really thinking about it for my next phone. I am still rocking the original Samsung Galaxy S and actually still love it so the upgrade might now be for a while. Anyways what I was getting at is Samsung has made me a believer with the Galaxy, but the HTC is so nice.

Just the regular 32GB Razr. Battery life is AWFUL

My wife and I are also looking at getting the One X. From all the reviews I have seen they rate it as the best phone AT&T carries right now. I think there is a pretty long back order on them right now though.

I absolutely hate the appearance of the Galaxy S III

S3 hands down. Hardware is a wash...Samsung seems to really be upping their game with usability and software. I'll be buying it for Sprint when my contract is up in September.

The lock screen is the selling point on sense, but you can easily get that on any phone.

The iPhone has already been killed with respect to better devices being available. The two devices you mentioned are leaps and bounds better than 4S, which was released behind the curve.
I think you'll need to take a look at both and fully examine how each fits your lifestyle. Both are excellent devices and I don't think you'll be unhappy with either.

Those that are on Verizon are screwed on this debate, obviously, leaving them with either the S3, the RAZR HD (if it ever comes out), or the Incredible 4G LTE (which hasn't come out yet).
If it was between the two I'd probably go with the Samsung because of the bigger battery and the actually removable back cover that lets you change out said battery. The HTC has an allegedly gorgeous LCD screen, but Pentile isn't the disaster that most people make it out to be.

You can put 4 apps on the lock screen, then drag it into the circle and it will open directly to the app.

You don't even have to root, just use Widget Locker. which isn't free, but still
