Jim Boeheim of Syracuse Orange goes off on conference realignment - ESPN

On the day after the Big East lost its fifth member in 18 months with Rutgers bolting for the Big Ten and with more defections likely on the horizon, the man who helped make Big East basketball the force that it is offered his view of the college landscap

"Like I said, if these guys (the conference commissioners) were running the United States in colonial times, Brazil and Argentina would be states because they have something we need. It's a great country."

Couldn't have said it better. While Boeheim is a notorious whiner and pussy scheduler, he's 100% right on this.

While I've always thought Boeheim was shady and a half-ass coach there's something likeable about him. He doesn't mince words.

Jim Boeheim uncensored - not 10 fucking ga...

Syracuse men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim responds to accusations that star guard Gerry McNamara is overrated: "Without Gerry McNamara, we wouldn't have won ten fucking games this year. Not ten. ... And everybody's talkin' to me and writing about Gerry McNamara being overrated? That's the most bullshit thing I've seen in thirty years."

  • If Syracuse was moving to the B1G he would be saying what a great move it is.

Sounds like he's unfamiliar with the phrase "Manifest Destiny" and United States history.

Horrible analogy. Does nothing to improve my already low opinion of him.

Not sure about Argentina, but we definitely should've annexed Brazil.

Someone needs to take grandpa back to the home.

Waaahhh, rivalries don't matter. Says the guy whose school bolted the big east. Newsflash boeheim: you can schedule whoever you want in the noncon. You just don't b/c you're a pussy.

He's bitter b/c he fought against syracuse to the BT, and now the ACC is disintegrating.

Wrong. Boeheim vetoed the invite from the Big Ten in 2010. He was against the ACC move too but the university heads overruled him.

Yeah, you can laugh at him and call him an old, angry man, but he is consistent on this. He was very adamantly against the conference realignment process. He was really upset about losing annual trips to the Big East tournament in New York City in particular.

I just think he's a dipshit because he acts like the Big East was this conference that was deep in tradition and rivalries. It wasn't even a conference until 1979, they added teams in 1980, 1982, 1989, 1995, 2000, 2003, 2005, and 2010. I mean come on. There is no tradition with the Big East. They haven't even had more than 6 years ever with the same conference. I fail to see his argument.

  • Boeheim has a point, but if he's so devastated about losing the Georgetown (or whichever rivalry), he can feel free to schedule it for the nonconference season. Lord knows he'll never do that, however.

he also stepped up and opposed the discussed move to the ACC in 2003 - BC went from the Big East instead.

And for "SpartanHoops," Boeheim has been "bounced" in the first round 5 times in 28 tourney appearances. He's got 3 Final Fours (made the finals each time, won 1 title) and 11 Sweet 16's. Overall record of 46-27 in the tourney. Izzo has been "bounced" 4 times in the first round. I hope you don't consider Coach Izzo a "fricking fraud" too.
