Bose Wave Radio Problem

  • I have a 15 year old Wave Radio that quit working, the display went blank, except for the A.M. indicator in the corner, I plugged it in and unplugged it and now it is totally blank. Anyone have a problem like this with one of these? Is it fixable or is it just done?

    Watch Out Pylon

  • Parents had the same problem. It's done....They called and bitched and got a new one. Dunno about the warranty.

Great sound on that radio, better than some stereo systems for much less.

    High Speed

  • Just replaced mine that crapped out after 18 years just like that.

Call Bose. For around $125-$140 they will replace it with the newest model or you can send the old one to a place Bose used to use as an authorized repair facility and they will fix it for $99 plus shipping.

    Thanks. Good Info.

Mine is about 10 years old and the CD player skips after playing two or three complete CD's.
Kinda intermittent, but can usually count on it to happen after playing it a while.

Have you tried running a disc cleaner through the player? I've read they can help with skipping.

No highs, no lows...Bose, best to toss it out and replace it with something that is not a marketing gimmick. The secret to Bose is a crossover that ignores about 70% of the information being sent to it. When you do that you can use the cheapest speakers money can buy and pretend they sound good. Then price your stuff at the high end of the market and spend most of the proceeds on marketing (and very little on your product.)
