If you want to stream movies from you PC/thumb drive/externalhard drive, gowith the Western Digital WDTV, it'll play anything you throw at it. If you want Netflix/Hulu Plus/etc., go with the Roku. I have both, and love them.

I had a whole thread on this/these things earlier... got no response other than someone suggesting I get used Xboxes off of Craigslist...

Was looking at a Mini/ITX system. But if WD Media streamer will play WTV off my network... maybe I will look into that?

Agree. There are many different options ... depending on exactly what you are looking for. is only one of them.

You chose to make it a v. other though.

I currently use a Mac Mini with Plex to stream from network storage. That's a good solution, but way more expensive than the other options.
I also use my Xbox 360 and run TVersity on my PC to stream as well. That converts a lot of the formats that xbox usually couldn't handle.

I have looked at all of those options though, and I'd definitely go with Boxee. I think it's the closest to running a Home Theater PC, as far as types of media it supports & the interface. Google TV would be my 2nd choice based on value.
