Brady goes down, Hoyer steps in and Wins the Super Bowl

i really don't get all the hate towards Brady.

I don't have a grudge I just think Peyton Manning is a better QB and should get the seal of approval. When ever you talk about one of those 2 QBs they're always going to be compared to the other, it's just the way it works. Both are top 10 QBs in NFL history but one of them had superior coaching and players around him. You can't fault Brady for that but at the same time it definitely belongs in the comparison.

i'm not calling you out, but there's a lot of people in the MSU community that really hold a grudge against the guy because he went to UM.

I don't hold a grudge against him going to U of M at all. I hold a grude against all the U of M fans that take great pride in him while forgetting that they never wanted him at QB. That they always wanted Drew Henson. No one ever remembers that...

Came up in conversation the other day with one of the locals. I told him that if he ever hears a Michigan fan say he loved Tom Brady in college tell him he is a fucking liar.

Who would have to be injured for Greg Jones to be on the field so he can intercept a Brady pass?

  • Probably a few factors in the Brady hate:

    • plays for a team who had a fat slob of an OC considered a genius yet found to have stolen defensive signals and videotaping the other team.

    • played for a school that hated and despised him while he was there demanding a highly touted freshman take his spot yet now worships the ground he walks on.

    • played for the school we hate

    • on a team coached by a guy considered one of the greatest coaches in the game

    • backups on team seem to do pretty well when cast into starting role. System???

    • the first SB doesn't happen if the fumble is called correctly vs the raiders in first round.

    • Drew Bledsoe was then just as great vs Pittsburgh to lead them to upset.

    • every time he wins something scuM fans are all puffing themselves.

I respect the guy and thought he was a damn good player at scuM and was glad Carr played yoyo w him.

Just hard to tell how good he is w being on a team where almost all guys go and become better players. How good would he have been on the Lions of the Millen era? Or some other crappy team w revolving head coaches.

If Brady gets his fourth ring Sunday there will be no doubt that he's the greatest of this era.

I think he will pass Montana on the playoff win list as well.

If the G-men win, Eli will have his second. Not bad for a guy with no leadership skills... Hi Tikilol

I think I'd rather have Brady lose fair and square so we can put this GOAT stuff to rest. Peyton Manning is the greatest of our era at the very least. Hoyer is said to be a highly touted FA and I hope he gets a shot with a different team.

Peyton Manning is a loser when it really matters. Losing playoff record, tosses up a pick six in crunch time during the SB, and his only ring is against Rex fucking Grossman. And for all that horseshit that Peyton never had good teams around, bull. The only reason they got to the first Superbowl championship is because their defense carried him to that game. He had terrible stats that year's playoffs.

    Colts with Peyton.....Colts this year.

    End of conversation.

Brady is a great qb, but Peyton > Brady and it's not even close.

Now tell me how seriously bad ass would that be?? Especially against a D-line like the Giants??

.....and of course, Brady gets injuried on a bone crusher from Greg Jones.

You forgot to mention that he bangs Giselle after the game, and on Twitter, Giselle proclaims Hoyer to be a lot better than Brady in the sack.

    Correct.

Meaning that it is quite clear who is better. Only Pats slappies argue otherwise.

Brady takes great advantage of excellent weapons. He's an great NFL qb -- especially in the Patriots system.

Manning makes a crappy team into a playoff team. His absence turns a playoff team into the worst team in the league.

Peyton's good and I can't fault someone for saying he's better than Brady, but to say it's not close is asinine.

Great weapons? Other than Randy Moss, who are these all-stars Brady has had his whole career?

Branch? Brown? Gaffney? Rece Caldwell? Danny Woodhead? Wes Welker?

That's a lot of mediocre with a few castaways from other teams. Granted, Gronk and Hernandez have emerged this year but I'm not convinced they'd be utilized to this extent on other teams.

The only thing I really agree with that Brady detractors love to bring up is the system. The system is undeniably good and made Matt Cassel look like an above average QB. That being said, I don't think playing in a good system automatically makes Brady worse than Manning. Again, they're close and if you can't admit that you're just a hater.

    For a little background...

Brady refused to do the commercial unless his O-Line was in it. It's not like VISA called up and begged to feature the NE O-Line. They were in it because Brady demanded.

Also: LOL @ anyone saying Peyton Manning is unquestionably better than Tom Brady. They're both top 5 all-time, but if Brady wins Sunday the debate is over. It's close now, Brady can end it on Sunday.

I'd like to tear apart this statement even further. (another fallacy against Brady is that his O-Line is just soooooooooo good):

This famed O-Line that you're taking about, good enough to be in a commercial was:

Matt Light: Very good player, pro bowler, etc.
Russ Hochstein: A career backup, has started 36 career games out of 138. Started 20 games in 7 NFL seasons with New England.
Dan Koppen: A very good, reliable center, until his season ending injury in Week 1 this year. Did miss 7 games in 2005 (the year this was televised).
Thomas Ashworth: Career backup. Started 36 career games out of 66. Played in only 6 NFL season, and started 6 games total after leaving New England in 2005.
Brandon Gorin: Career backup. Started 27 of 49 games. Started 9 games total after being cut by NE in 2005.

So 3 out of the 5 famed O-Line were career backups, and two were cut the same year, essentially ending their careers. But good attempt at throwing shit against the wall here.

This gives a pretty good summary of why I hate Brady. I respect him as an amazing crunch-time player (and frankly, I'm not sure where I fall on the Peyton vs. Brady debate, even though I'm personally a fan of Peyton), and I respect Belichek as one of the great coaches of all time.

That doesn't mean I can't hate them and root for them to fail at every possible opportunity.

Brady is OK in my book. Loved when he actually wore an MSU shirt. So many others scUMmers, like Desmond, take things way too seriously and act condescending for no reason. It's nice to have a prominent U-M guy who can actually joke around.

Funny. I don't hear this discussion around Terry Bradshaw. I think Brady would love to have John Stallworth as a Number 2 WR!

Laugh all you want--but we're really arguing over the definition of "close".

Peyton Manning single-handedly made the Colts a playoff team. Without him they are utter crap. This is demonstrated on the field and is undeniable. As quarterback, he is ALSO --in practical terms-- the offensive coordinator.

Brady -while excellent- is not the entire team. The Patriots success is the product of a number of players including Brady.

Brady doesn't come close to Manning's understanding of the game, and his abilty to elevate the play of his teammates.

The debate IS over. Manning is better. Whether you think its "close" or not is basically semantics.
