Brady goes down, Hoyer steps in and Wins the Super Bowl

Laugh all you want--but we're really arguing over the definition of "close".

Peyton Manning single-handedly made the Colts a playoff team. Without him they are utter crap. This is demonstrated on the field and is undeniable. As quarterback, he is ALSO --in practical terms-- the offensive coordinator.

Brady -while excellent- is not the entire team. The Patriots success is the product of a number of players including Brady.

Brady doesn't come close to Manning's understanding of the game, and his abilty to elevate the play of his teammates.

The debate IS over. Manning is better. Whether you think its "close" or not is basically semantics.

    Hahaha you're delusional.

Elevate the play of his teammates? Brady made Wes Welker (undrafted) the greatest slot WR of all time. Brady made Deion Branch worth a 1st round draft pick in a trade. Brady made Troy Brown a #1 WR. Brady got David Givens a ridiculous contract in Tennessee. Brady elevated Randy Moss to one of the greatest seasons by a WR ever after everyone thought Moss was washed up.

You act like Peyton has played with a bunch of bums. Like Marvin Harrison isn't a top 5 WR ever. Like Reggie Wayne sucks. Like Dallas Clark is a terrible TE. Like Jeff Saturday and Ryan Lilja and Ryan Diem are seive's on the line. This season doesn't validate Peyton in any way. If he played every game they still aren't a playoff team. That defense was garbage and the team was falling apart long before this season. It's why their GM was fired.

I think it's great you love Peyton Manning so much, but your argument as to why he's light years ahead of Brady is based on what? Nothing. You don't have much to back it up.

They are both top 5 ever. I'd put Brady over Manning based on his rings and his best winning percentage of all time. But it's silly to say one is clearly better than the other.

    Alright, then let's define close.

Who are QBs in your mind that are unquestionably better than Brady but also unquestionably worse than Peyton?

If the two aren't even close (your words) there should quite a few guys who you could put in that Venn Diagram.

Impossible. Hoyer would be staring at Devin Thomas on the Giants sideline. He would be throwing out of bounds all day.

That is the funniest thing I have read on this board in a long time.

The green_koolaid in here is thick enough to cut with a knife.

Like him or hate him, Brady is a top 5 QB in the history of the NFL. That is not debatable.

    Always Smooth.

Lol, getting to the Superbowl 5 times and winning it 4 times, hell I could make the argument he's the greatest ever.

System QB. He is good, but not the best.

Hahaha what QB isn't in a "system"?

I guess Joe Montana should be considered a system QB. He was in Walsh's West Coast Offense, after all.

And if the "system" was so great that Brady is in, why didn't it light America up when McDaniel's took it to Denver? Why didn't Charlie Weis win a title at Notre Dame? The system argument is truly the dumbest and most ridiculous argument there is.

QFT. There are no "system QBs" in the NFL. This isn't college football, where mediocre Texas Tech QBs can throw for 600 yards a game because they're playing against clueless DBs.

Montana didn't play in the spread era.

You watch on Sunday. Brady won't throw a pass over ten yards. Matt Cassel won 10 games in the same system. lol How do you explain that? Matt Cassel didn't play a snap in six years, dating back to USC. Bill made Tom, face it!

Giants will win, unless Brady gets hurt and Hoyer comes in.

I bet on the Giants.....now I just don't know. Brady getting hurt doesn't really bother me, Hoyer winning the big game I like, but I would have to buy my client a lunch.

OK, I vote for me buying my client a lunch

Clarification, minor, put out of game injury...not .....injury

Matt Cassel threw for 3,000 yards in each of his first 2 season in Kansas City. Last season he threw for 27 TDs and 7 INTs and had a QB rating of 93.

I'm not sure I'm supposed to be shocked that he stepped into the starting role in New England and succeeded considering it was his 4th season with the team and he had plenty of time to learn the playbook behind Brady. And as I illustrated above, he's been moderately successful in KC, so it's not like he doesn't belong in the NFL.

PS... What the fuck kind of offense do you think the West Coast Offense is if you think Montana didn't play in "the spread era" (whatever the hell the 'spread era' is..)

Go compare the stats between QB's today and QB's 20 years ago. Different style of football. Is 3,000 yards something special anymore? Nope! Who was Cassels OC that year? lol How did he do this year without that OC?

I hate arguing with people that know nothing about football.

Uhh Cassel's OC was Chan Gailey/Todd Hailey that first year. Further, Matt Cassel played ZERO seasons in New England while Charlie Weis was there... so I'm not sure what your point is regarding that.

And of course passing is more prevalent nowadays, I'm not sure why you even bring that up. The larger point is Joe Montana played in a spread offense (there's no such thing as a 'spread era'), and by your calculation is a "system quarterback" so should be excluded from any consideration from the best ever list. I'm glad you think you know so much about football, but the fact that you even think "system quarterbacks" exist shows just how little you know.

You can stick any QB in that offense.

    Not the spread era:

    Brady (12 seasons) 5,321 Attemps
    Montana (16 seasons) 5,391 Attemps

    Number don't lie.

Actually, it's quite possible to have two things be far apart but still have nothing in between them. Are the Earth and Moon close or far apart?

Either way: Safety, Missed receivers, INT.....

I guess Brady didn't really prove all that much last night. Good work, little brother.
