Breaking Bad- Season 4

  • Great episode.

Lots of small developments and a few twists.

Interesting move to make Jesse feel like a hero. Gus is smart.
Don't like the Walt is getting cocky...

Do we know why Gale had that Los Pollo Hermanos bag with some # written on it? Was that from a prior episode or is it new? I'm sure we'll find out but maybe I missed something.

  • Good episode, lots of stuff to keep us busy with. I did have one critique though - I thought the high speed run through rush hour traffic was a bit overdone. What ever happened with all that money he told Saul to dump?

  • this season has been great, the last scene at the dinner table was amazing. I thought walt just wanted to get known for his achievements but Hank finding polos means he wants him to find Gus

Walt can't want Gus to be discovered by the police. Gus has hours of footage of Walt and Jessie cooking meth in the super lab.

  • Great episode. I've thought from the beginning that this is Jesse's season. Gus either wants Jesse to be a Victor/Mike type right hand man, or he's trying to create a rift between him and Walt. Or both.

Side note - contract negotiations for season five finally complete. The last season will be 16 episodes, possibly split into two runs.

I'm not saying he wouldn't share it but what would he gain? His incredibly expensive facility would be destroyed and drug ring mastermind leaders don't get plea deals for handing over the cook.

  • How in the hell does Walt survive this season? He's increasingly desperate and Gus is perpetually three steps ahead of him ... He needs something to change quickly. Maybe Gus's upcoming meeting with the cartel goes bad?

I know Gus has nobody to replace Walt, but he might not have a choice if Walt keeps trying to force his hand.

Is Gus "grooming" Jessie to take Walt's place? Jesse knows the formula to cook blue.

  • Back in season 2/3 they had a pollos hermandos commercial as the opening. At the bottom of that add in fine print was this "electromotive" company. I thought it was some sort of Easter egg....looks like that's going to be the case.

Someone with PC access - pull up that commercial on YouTube and run a google search on that company. Maybe the writers put up a fake site with more info?

(I only have iPhone Internet access at the moment)

  • God damn this show is so fuckin good. I almost feel bad for the other shows out there. Next week's episode will certainly be a game changer.

  • Hank fuckin' Schrader breaks out that big brain of his and reminds us all that he is a pretty damn good investigator.

Is there a better duo on TV than Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul? Very doubtful.

  • Just watched Sunday's episode...best of the season so far. I get the feeling Hank is going to get double-crossed by one of his DEA buddies. Neither of them looked real happy when he brought up Gus' name.

  • Who else thinks at least one of those cops is dirty? Both Gomez and Merket seem almost defensively dismissive of Hank's theories. Hell, there's a picture of Gus literally handing a check to Merket for the station. That could have subtext.

It wouldn't be shocking if Merket is on Gus' payroll. It would be shocking if Gomez is since he's been Hank's buddy.

Exactly why Gomez is the perfect one to double-cross Hank.

Good theory. Between this, Walt's increasingly erratic behavior, and Gus' looming showdown with the cartel, the tension is really building.

  • SOB.. I was watching this on the DVR last night.. and there must be a bad spot on it because the system reset (repeatedly) at the point that Mike and Jesse were leaving the pow-wow with the cartel guys. The episode was going good up until then...

  • Damn...I knew these writers would give us a glimpse of Gus' backstory and almost put us on his side. I'm still curious to know who Gus was before 1989. Is he a Chilean spy or something?

Vince Gilligan talks about this show being a modern day Scarface, and seeing the guy who played Manny in the 1983 flick as Don Eladio was pretty neat.

Walt now questions Jesse's loyalty, since Jesse lied about Mike's text. Will Walt take drastic action to protect himself or will he let things play out? I still think this is Jesse's season and he's probably planning something we don't yet know about. Though, at this point I don't think I want to see Gus killed.

I am curious about who Gus was before he moved to Mexico too. The guy said that the only reason he did not kill him was because he recognized his name. He must had been connected in Chili.

  • Great episode. I love the episodes where Gus plays a major role. Less Skyler and Marie is good too. Hopefully the writers keep them in the backstory down the stretch run. Time for the good shit now.

  • Gus made a point to mention Pinochet in the last episode. Plus there were references to no records from Chile prior to 1989, which was when Pinochet lost the Presidency.

Pretty sure Gus was an officer for the fascist government in Chile.

I was looking up something about the show and I came across this.... (It is referring to episode 7 in season 3 - One Minute. The one where Hank gets fucked up.)

"We have some clues about the secret origin of Gus Fring in Don Salamanca's phone conversation during the flashback: He's South American, maybe some kind of former military junta figure (Tio calls him "Generalissimo," derisively)."

Also, does anyone know definitively who the hell called Hank to save his life???

    I think it was Mike.

Also when Gus showed up to meet with the old Cartel hit man guy what did he say? "are you ready yet?" what the hell was he waiting for there?? the guy hasn't talked yet in the show except the flashback
