Brown Recluse Spiders May Spread Across U.S. Due To Climate Change
Brown recluse spiders are scary, and they may be coming to a town near you. A new study, published in the journal PLoS ONE, suggests that the potentially deadly spiders might be spreading throughout North America as the planet warms.

i don't know what's happened this year, but i've caught and killed 7 Brown Reculses this summer here in KC. never had them inside before this summer. they've been small to large sized....the first couple were BIG. freaks me the fuck out.
There was a story a year or two ago about a house in Kansas where they found THOUSANDS of them. the family knew they had spiders, but never worried about it because no one ever got bitten. The good thing is that recluses are so named because they are quite shy and only bite if you come in contact with them - usually when they are in cloths on the floor, shoes, etc. so shake things out!
I'm moving there next week!
