Wow, I don't think many coaches would have done that after being fired. I wish he would have won the National Title in 2005. Guy deserves it and will do very well at K State.

Yeah, I was pulling for him when he was in the hunt for the National title in 2005. I believe his Mother died during the tourney. Definitely, a class act.

Without scrolling to see the entire picture I thought the Go Cats! portion was for NU. Classy either way. Hope he knows what he's getting into with KU being the power that they are.

Sometimes you have to accept that not everyone can be a Tom Izzo and avoid pulling a Glen Mason. I am fairly confident Illinois is fast approaching Minnesota in terms of asinine decisions.

They were spoiled by their stretch from 2000-2005 -- a national title game, four Sweet Sixteens, multiple conference championships. They thought that could continue, but that was pretty much the best they could expect to do in any given 5-year period.
They think they are a better basketball school than they really are because they tasted elite-level success for a small period of time. I'm not saying they aren't better than many other programs, but they just aren't as great as they think they are.

Did anybody else wonder why he included "Go Cats," thinking he meant Northwestern? I wonder if that was a subtle dig of some fashion.
In any case, a good PR move by Weber. I'm sure he plans to keep recruiting Chicago. He has to, there aren't any players in kansas. KU had no starters from its home state this year.

No kidding. The pity party on this board for "poor classy Bruce" is really strange. Dude is a multimillionaire who got 3.5 million to stop working. And all people talk about is how he got screwed.
Dear Illinois, please screw me.

What would people be saying about the AD if he gave Weber a vote of confidence and then fired him? Thomas was honest (all he said was that he would evaluate it at the end of the year), and the team had already fallen apart by the time he spoke on the situation. Weber was a crappy coach, and deserved to be fired. I fail to have any sympathy for a guy that just got a $4 million golden parachute,.

I doubt a commenter on a message board will have much impact on the future of the program but that is just me.

So we should just tolerate mediocrity? If MSU had that attitude John L Smith would still be in East Lansing. The Glen Mason comparison is insane because Mason actually improved Minnesota football from where they were under the previous regime. Illinois had clearly slipped under Weber, and the arrow was pointed downwards. There is no disputing that. I'm sure if the eventual replacement for Izzo took MSU down a level you guys wouldn't want him sticking around no matter how "classy" he might be.
